Terrible journalism by the AP and ESPN. Nothing is postponed, though there is a planned strike. Even with a strike, there is a chance that Sevilla-Zaragoza gets played as both clubs are against the strike. If the strike goes as planned, the last La Liga matchday would be pushed back three weeks due to the Champions Final and an international matchday. The reasons for this proposed strike by La Liga (LFP) are a) the elimination of the state mandated weekly free to air match and b) a bigger share of the profits of the state run betting pools. The government has reminded the LFP that the clubs owe 694 million euros in back taxes in addition to an additional unspecified amount owed to Social Security. Seven clubs are against the strike, and six of them have united to go to court to prevent the LFP from going on strike. These seven clubs are the same clubs that are against the most recent proposal concerning the division of television rights monies. One of the legal arguments from the group of six clubs, naturally, is the fact that the LFP argued in court that it was "not workable" to push the completion of the season back three weeks when the LFP was threatened by a players union strike in January. Luis Rubiales, president of the players union, was quoted in El Periodico de Catalunya as saying "what appeared to be an apocalypse then, now seems to open the gates of heaven for the clubs. Astiazaran said then that it was impossible (to postpone a match day), that there were no makeup dates, and now look...." Typical Spain......
