LKI had a good direct set piece attempt, but yeah. I had hoped he'd be able to do better corner deliveries.

One situation where I was unhappy with Korean set pieces in the first half was a corner Son crossed, despite having a player lurking around the "corner" of the penalty box that was potentially open to a pass.
When crosses don't work, a short pass could pull opposing defenders out of position.

Pressing + speed.. We have never been good with set pieces. I seriously want to see more direct plays.. And we need LKI + HHC for that..

What do you guys think about SHM btw? It is doing more harm to this team imo bc of his injury. He can't do headers. So he's sitting aside and KJS is trying to do headers instead. He can't do any aggressive plays or compete for the ball bc of the injury. He can't see the ball coming from the sides bc of the mask. His form is shit. No alternatives for sure, but still.

KJS should still stay wider, and not do headers instead of him. An adaptation of our crossing could be to look for sharp crosses landing low at the back post, or knock-downs from CGS, so SHM can use his feet and not his head. What was good was the positioning of the right-sided players, who were there to pick up overhit crosses and reapply pressure.

The best possible outcome is a 0-0 draw between them. Then we would advance if we beat Portugal no matter the outcome of the Uruguay/Ghana match.

i guess but thats been so engrained in out fame it almost goes by unsaid and theres no real means to end directly resulting from those strengths

This Ghana team was less explosive and athletic from their previous teams

0-0 is super likely, considering Uruguay's sturdy defense, and Santos' defensive mindset.

The biggest challenge against Portugal is our injuries. I doubt KMJ and possibly HIB will be able to play. Who knows about HHC.

If we beat Portugal even by 1 goal, then GD and Goals Scored would be the same, leaving us to advance based on Head-to-Head.

Or we need Portugal to blow out Uruguay.
And Uruguay to beat Ghana and we would go through on GD ahead of Uruguay.

Edit: 0-0 Portugal Uruguay to control our own destiny it is!!!

yet another WC where we are dependent on other teams to get through. I'm completely deflated right now.

Yep. Koreans depend on each other in everyday life, share meals and so many joyous and sad moments. It's fair from the NT to need Uruguay and Portugal to do their boring stuff tonight.

Then everything will be set for a mad 90 minutes where we actually just need to win. No ifs and buts.

The rule book is a bit unclear on what happens if Ghana also draws with Uruguay 0-0, a 3 way 1-1-1 tie, and if GD and the total goals scored are the same for all three parties. Then a three way HH result will be counted. And GD, total goals scored among the three will be counted. Ghana has a better chance with 5 goals scored but Korea and Portugal will be a tie again if Korea beat Portugal by 1 goal. Maybe fair play result between the two? Moreover if Korea beat Portugal by 3-2 then fair play points for all three will be counted to determine the best 2 out of 3.
