I see multiple threads, but I assume they will be merged, so I will confine my disappointment to this one.
No Shea, EJ, Feilhaber or Adu. (Any could be called in case of injury.) Edu, Green, Corona and Yedlin all in the 30.
Corona, hmm.. Glad EJ is out and Boyd is in. Glad we'll get a look at Chandler too even if I have misguided personal disdain towards him. He's clearly talented. Also, I hope Brooks absolutely crushes it in camp because we need a new CB.
Hooray, no Fiscal or Castillo. No EJ. No Shea. Surprised at Corona. He's had a lot of goodwill carry over from last summer. No Wondo a bit surprising. Every German except Williams. Jurgen just can't leave his comfort zone. edit: Now see Wondo. Sorry.
Corona is odd, Green is not surprising considering, Yedlin is good, Chandler is...sigh. Other than Benny, I don't see any glaring omissions from the 30.
Seriously, there are like 5 other Americans on the TJ roster I would have taken other than him. OK a bit of an overstatement, but this is bigsoccer.
I like the 30. Will be interesting to see who the 23 wind up being. (Feilhaber would/could still likely be saying there's a chance -- due to injury or what have you.)
Good sized stones on ol JK for leaving EJ off the roster, but in terms of results, you can't fault him for bringing Boyd as well as Wondo. Pretty cold statistical analysis there from ze German.
So which players did you think was left off on the 30 at first glance? I missed Chandler and Donovan upon first viewing... Anyone, decent roster. I would prefer Benny in place of someone like Corona or Green but he obviously wasn't in the plans
I know he's been in the mix over the past year, but Boyd absolutely made his mark over the past month. Likely made the decision to omit Johnson easier. Lot of potential right back options with Cameron, Chandler, Evans, Yedlin, Johnson, and Parkhurst in the 30. Edu with the move of the year coming back to Philly. And, in the semantics department: Johnson listed as a defender; Green as a midfielder; Donovan as a forward.
Green is there, so is Jones. And a lot of these guys played in the CCL. (And there are others that have previously played in the UCL.)
Early guess at the 7 cuts: Yedlin, Brooks, Parkhurst, Corona, Davis, Wondolowski, and Edu. Edit- Parkhurst v. Evans is a coin-flip, not on ability at outside back, but in trying to read Klinsmann's mind.
