Did the US win an Algarve without conceding a goal in the entire tournament before today? *knows that in '95 they aced the prelim round*

Kudos to the entire team and to Greg Ryan for a terrific victory today. Who was player of the match? Sorry, but it has to be Solo, US Soccer...

Doesn't matter the country she's in (Sweden, France, Portugal), for the past year, when Solo is in goal, zeroes are in store for the opponent. Her Sweden stint was no fluke, then. It sounds like she was channeling the spirit of hockey hall of famer Bernie Parent today (dcajedi will know what I'm talking about)

Now what, though? Less than 10 friendlies the rest of the year? 6?

*wonders if Solo has played herself onto the #2 spot on the NT full-time after today*

Is that what the recruiters tell you?

Cuz they're desperate for soldiers. The war in iraq won't be over for years and they'll need to keep replenishing the troops over there. Can't forget the war in Iran that's about to go down.

If you really want to be a marine, then by all means do it! But I would also weigh the strong possibility that you may have to go overseas and be put in danger :)

yea being shipped overseas is always in my head. i really dont know what i want out of life or myself. all i ever wanted to do was play soccer for a living. before i got onto a club team i was in this position of becoming close to signing papers but then i made the team and the feeling went away. maybe im looking for something to be proud of. im lost, confused, and all of the above.

i should just go to school and get this damn thing out of the way and get on with my life with ot without soccer.

what do i want. what do i want.....

what i want is to have the life i had back. where soccer was with me everyday. where a game wasnt too far away. being able to be me and not worry about what everyone else says or thinks about me.

is that too much to ask?

    im having soccer withdrawls :(

You can see if there's a rec league in your area to keep playing.

You should look into doing ROTC in college. You get the military thing, in addition to a normal college experience. You get a year to test drive the program before making a commitment if you get the 4-year scholarship. And you get 2 years to test drive if you don't.

There are more opportunities for an officer, in addition to better pay.

    Best of luck to ya.

A lot of reservists are the ones getting deployed. The active duty folks are pretty much locked into their jobs and location... at least as far as I can tell from my 7 months in the AF.

And I won't ever deploy to the desert... unless I volunteer for it. But as a missileer I have a 4 year controlled tour. Meaning, I ain't leavin' Malmstrom for a while.

    Fun times.
