But Jenkins then clouded the issue by claiming that the Swans could recall Ki at any point up to the end of this month, stating: “He is our player and we can recall him up until January 31.” In fact, the cut-off date before which Swansea were able to prematurely terminate Ki’s loan deal passed last week, meaning the 24-year-old will remain at Sunderland for the remainder of the campaign. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ki-sung-yueng-spend-rest-season-6508549 well, that settles that....now back to the pitch! not sure if the article was posted before
Seems Poyet will get asked if Ki can be recalled until the window is over (I think the mirror reported Dec 28th was actual deadline!) http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/16/gus-poyet-sunderland-southampton
Isn't Ki's messed up English name Ki Sung Yueng? I think Yong is better but if we're all for being correct then Yueng is the way to go... I think.
Yeah, I agree. Just pointing out that he goes by Yueng or Yeung but Yong is what we all prefer i think
He most likely spells it differently b/c the chinese character to his 용 is very unique and doesn't mean dragon. So when anglicised, it's spelled weirdly.
Laudrup reveals Swans had the chance to take Ki back until up end of December. Once JDG and Canas got injured he asked but it was too late.— Tom Nightingale (@tdnightingale) January 17, 2014
uhhh, hmm. well.. this is getting interesting for Sunderland http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...ports-de-fanti-sacked-by-sunderland-1-6380590
He should be for being awful at his job. Laughable that DiFanti lost money on JDW. Absolutely laughable. On that alone, he should be sacked.
as far as Ji is concerned, wasn't it PDC who rejected the bid and not De Fanti? or was it a joint decision? De Fanti should have been fired the instant he thought PDC will be good manager for Sunderland.
I think it was joint but hard to tell. You could see that PDC was trying to represent the party line in his discussions of players.
Also someone in the legal dept of Swansea needs a canning as well. It should not be rocket science to know how a recall is triggered
I think the implication is that it would be as a transfer-like activity, not triggering recall clause which would be involuntary from ki perspective
At the end of the day, DiFanti was in charge of transfer dealings. So if the club wanted to keep him, DiFanti should have offered an extension. Or else, sell when before the asset completely depreciates. What an idiot. Embarrassing. I would fire someone if he/she screwed up the drafting and/or left in the boilerplate and couldn't read it correctly.
From reading this, it means Swansea massively screwed up, and Swansea no longer have the sole option to recall him. So in order to recall KSY, all parties to the agreement (not sure if it would include KSY in which case, only Sunderland would have to refuse) would need to agree to an amendment that would allow Swansea to recall.
So a great interview with Poyet. I have to say that I've been impressed with a manager who actually has a system that is practical beyond "Lets play like Barcelona!". And I guess Suarez didn't get the memo: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ight-says-the-sunderland-manager-9068383.html
