Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Rev up those bulldozers................ Thanks for the update!!
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Hope this all works out for you. If KC gets their stadium finsihed before the likes of Houston and DC, and we will probably be still building ours in NY, it will be a testament to the fans and OnGoal. SHows what a local investor who gives a damn can mean. Best of luck. Hope it all becomes official soon.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 I'll have to double-check before giving an answer. Just because I think I know doesn't mean I do..
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Raffle for the right to push the lever down on the TNT and blow the damn place up. All proceeds from the raffle go to a charity of teh Wizards choice.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Fantastic! Holy crap they could cure cancer with all the people who will enter that thing.

Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Maybe it's good that we don't have a game this weekend....if the budget gets signed on Friday as expected, we will have a good enough reason to gather and drink (even better if Mr. Ficklin will leak some renderings)!
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 This just in from Jefferson City: The House "truly agreed and passed" our funding bill today. So that's done. <pause for rejoicing, weeping, consumption of mass quantities of yummy tequila, feasting on fruit bats, group hugs, singing of Kumbayah, etc.> NEXT: Governor needs to sign the bill - should be done around the end of May, beginning of June, if not sooner. Sorry, cjgwizard, the bill only has to be passed by Friday, not signed. NEXT NEXT: Application process for the funds approved by Dept. of Economic Development. Sam - any word yet on that? Regards, your hooligan lobbyist
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 The governor needs to sign this in Kansas City with a big hoopla and party for all.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 I have a meeting with the MO Senate Communications folks at the capitol tommorow. Anyone have a quick run down of the Econ Developement funds approval requirement? I can ask around while I am there, or go bug my Rep and Senator about it.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Is Carl Vogel your Senator? He's on the Economic Development Committee in the Senate and he might be able to give you insight into the application process, if not the specifics of our application. But most of the Reps and Senators are not there on Friday, because they adjourn for the week on Thursday.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 4 days a week sounds like the life of Reilly, I know, but they frequently work 12-16 hour days during the session, especially the last few weeks. I don't feel sorry for them, because they fought hard to get these jobs. I do respect most of them for how hard they work when they're in Jeff City. And some of them go home and work part-time jobs, or run their farms, and still have to meet with constituents.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 ... and Thursday was a state holiday for Harry Truman's birthday. Yet I had to work at his library cos it's a federal building.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 So, Kevin... when ya gonna release those stadium design pics?
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Where do we stand right now? What are we waiting on? I'm assuming at this point that we can look forward to a nice long road stretch to start the 2010 season. That is to say that we can get a stadium built by 2010 still. We've lost nearly half a year waiting.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 I am ready to be corrected, but I believe we are just waiting for the governor to sign it. Right?
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Waiting for signature of the governor, should come by the end of this month or early June by what's been posted in this thread. Your assumption though is wrong from the stuff I've been hearing though. People have been saying for a few months now that June was when we'd start demolition of the mall (Onalfo said this in an internet radio show before the season started, so Marchish), and the plan was still for the stadium to be ready by 2010.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 Believe once the Gov signs it (make the funds available) an application has to be filed by Lane4 to some kind of economic approval committee/board/admistration to get the funds to start the demolition/construction.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 So is this to say that we are still on schedule and that our current waiting situation was always the plan?
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 I can't say for sure, but pretty much everything I've heard/read since the end of Tolbert's petition was Juneish for demolition to start.
Re: KC Wizards Stadium News/Discussion 08.2 The gears of governance are gigantic, heavy and in need of lubrication. Yes my impression has been that Q1 was at one time a remote possibility, but the combined forces of Funk and the Blight King erased any possibility of that circa early December. That said, if they knock the thing down in June (assuming the stadium is the first thing to go up) then that would give them 22 months to make the start of 2010. IIRC no SSS has taken longer than 22 months to construct.
