KC vs. Morelia game thread. Two and a half hours to go. All eyes are glued to their computer screens. Just click on the banner at www.mlsnet.com to follow the game on matchtracker.
Yep, I've already clicked the link to make sure it works and now i'm setting here waiting. come on Wizards! what did everyone think of Preki's comments in the KC Star today? I was bothered by them.
I think I understand his point of view. But I was surprised too. After all the MLS matches are the highest priority. I think the amount of traveling he has had to do recently is probably getting to him. Now if there were more media attention to KC's great run in this tournament so far then he might feel more enthused. But it has been an achievement that has been ignored and a competition with little prestige (at the moment). I believe that once he steps onto the field this afternoon his attitude will be like every other Wizards match and he will be ready to play. He doesn't know how to play any other way.
I agree, Preki is a competitor. He may not be happy to be doing all of this traveling, but once he is there he will leave them on the ground. This team probably doesn't know that Preki has one move that he does extremely well.
Instead of doing the thread thing here, let's hop in the BigSoccer chat room once the game starts. It worked out real well for the Rochester game. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/digichat.php
After Preki's comments in the Star... is anybody too suprised that he didn't start tonight? (er... this afternoon)
First 6 minutes are quiet. Tony got some action in 5th minute: 6: Bautista has another breakaway with no one within 10 yards of him ... his shot on goal from 25 yards out went wide of left post 5: In first five minutes the teams were feeling each other out with a lot of play in the middle third of the field ... in the 5th minute Bautista danced around on the right side and sent a square pass from the right which Tony Meola blocked No update for about 5 minutes.
Well it is true that no one is really paying attention. Maybe this tournament should just take place over a two week period and that way it would draw better crowds.
Sounds like Bobblehead is getting tested early and often. I would expect play to subside after the first 20 min or so.
Yup, it does sound like he's getting pounded down there. I like the sense of humor the person doing the game tracker has "20: KC: Eric Quill takes a knee from Morales where it counts ... but no call on the play" Hah...
It's begining to get ugly... Quill off on a stretcher in the 25th I guess the combination of the food that gave him and Gomez the belly aches last night combined with the knee to the "where it counts" area has finally done him in.
"and the Wizards defense clears" can't we even get a player name on that one, did 4 guys count "1-2-3eeeee" and kick the ball at once? I see Preki is on now.
Preki is in now. I hope Gans moved Armstrong to the left wing and Brown up top. Armstrongs work ethic is going to be needed on the wing if we're to ever to get any chances. And Brown a better finisher.(sometimes)
Subs for second half? McQ Diego (did he travel down?) The Rebirth of Vermes? I can't see us adding offense the way things are reading even through the MLS biased tracker reporter. I think Bob's Country Bunker might just have to try and ride it out, countering only to keep them honest. Tie and get a result in KC. Would like to know details on Quills injury...
Good result for the Wizards, so far. Even a nil-all draw would be massive when looking ahead to the second-leg match. Not sure if they can succeed in defending and countering for 90 minutes in Mexico-- they'll have to dictate the attack at some point. That might depend on how seriously hurt Quill is, and how effective he can play in the second half. Klein will have to get more involved-- but the Wizards' best hopes may come down to a Preki-inspired influence... (Love the "Bob's Country Bunker" line... I don't come on this team board very often, but that does remind me of "The Blues Brothers", which will always be one of my favorite movies. And the line suits Gansler's tactical mindset very well.) Cheers, William
Re: Re: Brown is a better finisher Guys, this match is on a Spanish webcast too. Check the Mexico board for the link.
