How do you see that game panning out? We haven't scored in 431 minutes. Some say that streak is bound to end, others say it never will. This Saturday should be interesting though, it's the first time in 2 years Olsen, Moreno, Etcheverry and Pope have all been available to play at the same time, and the first time this season that all but Olsen have been ready to go.
Well, I thought we could use this to put the Mexico trip behind us. DC hasnt scored in 430+ minutes. KC can become the first team this season to win three straight games. KC can begin to solidify their hold in the 3 or 4 spot with this win. DC's hopes of playoffs will be further dashed with a defeat. Olsen, Pope, Moreno and Etcheverry are all available at the same time for the first time in a long time. No Metrosports coverage.
Igor and Fabbro should be able to start together and they should be playing mad. Yeh, they may be tired from all the traveling but wiping their memory of the last match should be their main concern. Preki needs to prove that if MLS is his priority then he needs to show it twice as much in this match. Garcia needs to remain cool and hopefully we can bounce back in a similar way to the way they did after the Metros home loss.
Both teams take the pitch and the skid marks left from the all-star game are still their. 12' Klein slot a low cross to a steaking Igor, goal!!!!! 15' In an attempt to settle down the KC offense Pope hacks down Fabbro. The replay shows that Pope didn't even come close to hitting Fabbro, but he still gets the yellow. 16. La' Norte is beating their drums, and hurling expletives at Meola. Meola can't hear what they are saying over the drumming and just smiles and gives a thumbs up. 29' Olsen is racing down the feild and Etchevery pasxses him the ball. Olsen trips over the ball an breaks his ankle. In comes Lassiter. Ganslers chuckles to himself and says "suckers" 38' Preki actually tries to help DC out by telling them his is going to cut to the left and shoot next time he gets the ball. 40' Preki cuts left and shoots. Goal!!!! Andy Mead goes wild. Halftime- Gansler talks to his men, and tells them not to lay into the teenagers too bad, but if given a chance remind them that Preki is more than twice their age and they still can't do a thing about it. Hudson tells his lads something, but he is so worked up that nobody can understand him. Hudson wishes he had Gazza to translate. 49' A scuffle breaks out and Richie Williams tries to punch McKeon but can only reach his knee. Williams and the foul goes unnoticed. 60' Prideaux is burnt badly by Klein and banks it off Rimmando near post. GOAL!!!!! La Norte is not surprised, but keeps on drumming. Meola thinks may he can pick up some tips for his band. 75' The north end of RFK caves in, the game is suspended until another time. oh and SAD drumming ensues.
I have never seen the Wizards win an "away" game. That includes every Kansas City/DC United game from 1997 to present. I have had my guts ripped out in the most fantastic manner. Everytime I think they have run out of new ways to make me feel like crap, I am mistaken. The capper is hopefully the debacle of June 29th in San Jose. Of course, I can't not go. If I don't go, and the Wizards win, then I'll never be able to go to RFK for a Wizards game again. I just have to tough it out. Heck, they won in Dallas. I can't objectively discuss how I think the DC game will go. The emotions of my past disappointments there, coupled with the hangover from yesterday, make objectivity impossible. At least if we lose, the Screaming Eagles always seem to turn up a free beer or two for me out of sympathy at the post game tailgate
Andy, feel free to stop by La Norte too. I'm not old enough, but I'm sure some of the other guys would buy you a beer or 2 as well.
Fat Tony will be pelted with donuts in this game. And for the sake of US Soccer I hope you aren't really hoping that happens to Olsen!
When I shoot a game at RFK, I usually hang out at the other end with the big wall to my back, but if you guys are planning on throwing donuts out of the north end, I may have to take Lastort's normal spot!
I figured that, just wanted to make sure. Andy, if you make it down to La Norte for a half, do it when Meola's in that net. If you make it down there for only a few minutes, come at the beginning of the game for confetti and streamers.
Andy, are you photographing the game or watching it from the stands? Anyone else going to be there? I'll be the jackass in the Wiz jersey.
Scott has a race (he owns (but doesn't drive) a small track late model stock car), and Mike Lastort agreed to be a photographer at a birthday party, so I'm left holding the camera. I'll be taking photos, and hopefully plenty of them. Let me know where you'll be sitting. Actually there was a guy at the All-Star game in an old Charlie Brown kit.
IF any KC supporters are coming to DC Sat, you're more than welcome at the SE tailgate (Lot 8 near the pedestrian tunnel). Contact our tailgate ticket guy at tcards@screaming-eagles.com (he and his missus used to support KC, he might even be wearing his KC jersey on Sat, he can hook you up). Tailgate tix can be purchased at the SE ticket kiosk, lot 5, Gate B (under the giant Mia poster, makes me want to gag). K
You're just jealous because the Freedom are in the playoffs and you're not. See ya tomorrow! What time are you guys going to be set up by?
I don't know of a better time to kick a dog than when it's down. -Ray Hudson Karma is a wonderous circular thing. -Dave Schulz KC 2-1
Well I guess we have to watch mlsnet to see what the scoreline is. Unless DC had some internet fead we don't know about?
