Do you think Conte will rest some players. I hope so. He might as well start Bernardeschi and Insigne. SES as well

I'd love to see Berna take Giac's role for the game (instead of wingback). I was reading an article on him and he considers himself a trequartista.

Ya I always found him similar to Totti, his playing style anyway. I think he would make a great trequartista

Like I said in the other thread, rest Buffon, Juve 3, and De Rossi. I would play a back four with Ogbonna and Darmian at CB. While momentum is important, we have an old team, and rest is critical.

We won the group, Conte would be dumb to not rest the whole starting lineup

I get the whole resting the older players but no good comes from reverting back to a back 4 if conte has no intention of using it the next game

Time to rest the Juve back 3.

Would you guys still use a 3-5-2 for this game?

I'd stick with 3-5-2 and go with:

    Super Sirigu
    Darmian, Ogbonna, De Sciglio
Bernardeschi, Florenzi, Motta, Sturaro, El Shaarawy
    Zaza, Insigne

Yes, that back 3 looks horrible. Who cares.

Yeah, this would be a solid idea also. I would 100% co-sign. I was amazed Conte didn't take five CB's when playing 3 5 2. Rugani could of been useful for this match and in case of injuries.

I wouldn't mind this formation either. In the other thread, I went with a 4 3 3 suggestion, but this would probably be a better idea. Stamos' 3 5 2 above is also worth considering. Bottom line, Ogbonna, Darmian and De Sciglio as the back three...

If Conte took Rugani, a back three would be a no-brainer.

    I'd swap Berna and Florenzi.

Also worried about playing Motta. Can't afford either him or DeRossi injured because neither can play a full game.

Edit: I'd also let the Irish win (the poor buggers).

No thanks, let's beat them. I know some Irish who still talk about 1994.

Anyone with a yellow card should obviously be rested. I believe Buffon and DeRossi have yellow's, so let them sit to avoid a second yellow. Juve back 3 should of course be rested. Croatia and Spain will be going all out against each other in an attempt to win their respective group. We have a great opportunity to here to be much more rested than our opposition, hopefully we take advantage of it.

I'm hearing neither Bern or Insigne will get the start. LOL What is Conte waiting for? I'm a Juventino but anyone who watched Napoli this year could see Lorenzo was the spark plug that made things run. 12 goals and 10 assists (only Pogba had more assists in Serie A I believe). It isn't just the goals it is his vision and passing that make him so dangerous. He's great at sending through balls past the defense.

I just don't get it. We may reach a crucial moment in this Euro where we need Lorenzo and he could have barely any minutes on him.

I read those rumors as well. It seems that both of those players are the 22nd and 23rd guy off the bench on this team. Basically the 2016 version of Simone Barone and Massimo Oddo in 2006. I'm not happy about that, but at this point I'm simply rooting for Italy to win. In the end, the shirt is more important than any one player. I've stopped caring about Conte's choices. Once Ventura takes over, we can have that discussion again. I just hope it all works out and we lift our second Euro Cup (1 is not enough for a footballing powerhouse like Italy).

Ah well Conte is sticking to what he believes in, I have to respect that.

If we do see Insigne, it might be as an attacking midfielder. That's what he did against Bulgaria (with Giovinco) when we needed to attack more.

    Here's my 3-5-2

    Sirigu
    Barzagli - Bonucci - Ogbonnna
    Darmian - Berna - Motta - Sturaro - SES
    Zaza - Insigne

Even with the mentality of resting players, I don't see any reason why Conte would mess with the 3-5-2, if it's working. This is what Conte will most likely go with on Wednesday:

    Sirigu
    Barzagli - Ogbonna - Darmian
    Florenzi - Sturaro - T. Motta - Giaccherini - El Shaarawy
    Zaza - Immobile

The only issue I have is with Barzagli being left in rather than Bonucci. Barzagli is older and more prone to injury. He has more miles on those legs. Instead, I'd rather see a back three of:

    Darmian - Bonucci - Ogbonna

Bonucci has a yellow. No way you can risk him for a meaningless game.

I'm all for Conte sticking to his 3-5-2 with it working. That's the formation Zoff used a ton in Euro 2000 and Conte of course was a big part of that team. He's a big believer in it. But, Insigne could easily play seconda punta in a 3-5-2. Why play Immobile and Zaza together in that formation when Insigne is a better seconda punta than either of them ever will be.

Of course in the end, I'm behind Italia no matter what. I just don't want Lorenzo called upon in a crucial Quarter or Semifinal game to come in cold and asked to work miracles against a packed defense.

Would love to see SES and Insigne. Never understood the hype around Thiago Motta to be honest.
