Warren won the night, but she lost the race a year ago when she decided on a “play nice with Bernie” strategy. She should have known she would never get his supporters, and that he would get more progressive undecideds if no one (including her) did not take him down a peg.

So, in the most consequential election in our lifetimes, the Democratic Party process has provided us the following options in a field now winnowed down to six. Three guys in their late seventies who can most generously be described as “barking at the moon,” while the compare the number of stents they have in their arteries, another woman over 70 who is intolerant of any view that slightly diverges from her own, and that includes any of the 70 trillion or so in the free goodies she wants to make us all accept, Amy “Shakes the Clown” Klobuchar who wants to kill Mayor Pete with a well placed binder toss or stapler Heave, and then eat his brains with her hair comb, and a 38 year old former mayor of The Big House at Michigan. Oh wait, no, the population of that stadium is bigger than South Bend. Well done Democratic Party! Add to it that the two considered to be front runners going into the debate are not even Democrats ... While I wish he had one more job of consequence, I got to go with Mayor Pete at this point.

Pretty self explanatory. Warren is absolutely a fighter, however, she is not know as someone who will strike a deal. Her way or the highway. I was being sarcastic about the number, but she is proposing a ton of freebies for the nation that cost way more than she proposes we bring in. When the numbers don’t work, she simply says, “wealth tax,” even though a wealth tax hasn’t worked anywhere it has been tried. I like Warren. She is a great figure to have in the Senate. I will support her if she is the nominee (which the Bernie Bro’s will never allow), but I don’t think she is a great Presidential candidate, and she would have a real hard time winning in the suburbs, which is going to be a key to Democrats winning.

I'm aware of the rules, I don't agree with it. It'll lead Dems to instantly lose millions of voters, even worse there will be massive campaigns to write in a candidate and vote third party.

Problem is, a lot of people (not saying you) assume all the other candidates are the same and none of their supporters would go to Sanders which is inaccurate. Sanders is the second choice for many Biden and Warren supporters.

It's true though. He has enough money to buy his way out of it. He can afford to drop another $100 million on ads of him sitting next to Obama making it look like he has his endorsement. People have short memories and most don't watch the debates.

Why would Bernie supporters go for a watered-down version of Sanders when they can have the real deal. Everyone is giving Warren too much credit for saying 1+1=2. Literally how low are your standards to see someone call a spade a spade.

Ever since Bloomberg entered the campaign, Sanders' surrogates have been relentlessly attacked for ripping on Bloomberg but Warren is heaped with praise, what a double standard (this is not referring to you).

If your Lord and Saviour thought so poorly of Warren, why did he beg her to run for president?

Look, I like Bernie as much as the next guy. Statistically speaking, I like him more than about 90% of the next guys. As a matter of fact, I think they should put him on the US$100,000 bill. But this Bernie or Bust bullshit has got to ********ing go. It's extraordinarily tiresome.

I would assume not all Bernie supporters are cut from the same cloth. Those who support him, not so much for his 'socialist' label or ideology, but as the most 'progressive' voice in the Democratic party, who have different view on certain issues that distinguish older style, democratic socialist ideology from a progressive one, but who were nonetheless neither enamored with many of the neo-liberal attitudes on economic issues nor interested in seeing yet another "AIPAC stooge" in the White House, might find Warren a more refreshing voice or choice.

For me, Warren is the better choice.

    p.s.
I understand Bernie (who didn't attend the AIPAC conference last time around in 2016) apparently hasn't ruled out attending the next one, while Warren has ruled it out. If Bernie ends up doing what Obama did, which is to bow to AIPAC as Obama did before being anointed the Democratic nominee in 2008, then -- even admitting Obama was always going to be better than Hillary or anyone else who hasn't simply bowed but has sold their soul to AIPAC too - -- he would lose much of his appeal to me. America needs someone who stands up to "AIPAC" and does what, in another era (McCarthy era), it did to those who wanted to use another label (at that time, "communist") to shut out opposing views and promote lies instead. Whatever your views on Israel, Iran, the Palestinians, the entire PNAC project, or anything else that informs US foreign policy, there should be honest debate about it. And those who not just stifle but seek to prevent such debate and even criminalize it, should be exposed.

Business around "China towns" has been down due to flu concerns, so this was nice of Warren a few days ago.

You people don't get it. It's not about Bernie, it's about M4A, Green New Deal, Student Debt Forgiveness, etc. If Bernie went back on his word, we'd drop him instantly.

Harvard's Law first woman of color professor is a liar and flip-flopper, that is why she has lost.

I'm convinced that some of the consultants on Bloomberg's campaign are actively engaged in sabotage.

It's a complete shit show. Every single candidate is stomach-churningly bad, the format is designed to create conflict, and the moderators are deplorable.

    This is an awful debate.

    The audience is terrible.
The moderators suck out loud and "gasp" are quite worse than Chuck Todd.
They keep cutting off the speakers (who, admittedly, go on too long).
The questions have been pretty awful.

Warren cannot manage a word in edgewise. She has been okay when she has been able to speak, but not great.

    Biden is just shouting, again.

The audience hates Sanders and keep booing.

Bloomberg is just slightly less awful than last week.

Klobuchar just keeps repeats the "centrist" theme.

Steyer has made a couple of decent points but has been very quiet.

Mayor Pete is least annoying out there, but has not really said much.

But, no voting for Jill Stein, though?

    Good for you, sir.

    Agree with each comment.

    Stupid closing questions:
    "Biggest misconception about you.
    What's your Personal motto?"

    God, pure idiocy.

Steyer: "Misconception is that I am defined by business success and money." Of course, you are defined by business success and money. Without them, you would not be within two thousand miles of the debate stage tonight.

Klobuchar: "Misconception is that I'm boring. And I'm not." Yes, Senator, you are and that is just about the best thing about you.

Biden; "Misconception? I have more hair than I do." What the hell does that even mean? That is a misconception YOU have, grandpa, not a misconception about you.

Sanders: "Misconception is that the ideas I am talking about is radical." Good answer.

Warren: "Misconception, is that I don't eat very much." Huh? Next, "I was never supposed to be on a stage like this and the misconception is that I thought I should be president of the United States." A large misstep there.

Buttegieg: "Misconception is that I am not passionate." Decent answer.
"I will never impose my religion on anyone." Good answer.

Bloomberg: "Misconception is that I am 6 feet all." Oh, stupid, stupid. Nobody thinks that, Mayor.

Mottos were all dumb, as well.

Who on Earth is the idiot that keeps giving these questions at the end of the debate?! My time is valuable, the candidates' time is valuable, and we didn't get a question on freaking climate change (according to Bernie's Twitter, I didn't watch). But sure, we can reserve time for these kinds of really stupid questions that tell us nothing of value.

So from the sounds of it, it seems it's a good thing I missed this. Whole thing sounded like a cluster********. Nothing about dealing with the coronavirus for instance.

I see Gayle King was one of the moderators and that explains a lot. I remember something an old print journalist said to my news writing class: TV journos are always asking us how to do their jobs.

Honest to god, get some print journalists to moderate these things.

I thought Buttigieg was easily the best, but I doubt that makes a difference.

What I'm hoping is that Sanders' rise stops, and he plateaus, and Biden takes the momentum with a strong win South Carolina
