July 4, 8 and 11 Gold Cup Group Stage Watching Parties

Discussion in 'Dallas Chapter' started by TheDallasPerspective, Jul 1, 2009.

  1. We almost won the whole damn thing down in South Africa ... our boys did us proud! It's been widely stated that our Gold Cup team will be something less than our A team, but don't let that keep you from coming out to Trinity Hall and enjoying more soccer-watching parties! These parties are for the group stage games; we'll get back in touch on plans for the knockout rounds.

LOOKING AHEAD: Keep Wed Aug 12 open on your calendar ... that's the huge World Cup qualifier at Mexico, and it will be another fun one! Match time and events TBA.

    WHO: DFW American Outlaws
WHAT: USMNT Gold Cup group stage watching parties
WHERE: all matches shown at Trinity Hall Irish Pub, www.trinityhall.tv

    ******************

    FIRST GROUP MATCH: vs. Grenada
WHEN: Saturday, July 4, kick-off at 8:00 PM CDT

FC DALLAS: FCD has a home game that night at 8:00 PM with music and a massive fireworks show ... if you've been wanting to check out MLS soccer, this would be a good one to go to. But we will (probably) have a monitor with the game on (no sound) if you want to come to Trinity Hall and see both games!

NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK BENEFIT: From noon to 4:00 PM, Trinity Hall will serve $2 hot dogs and $4 burgers straight from the grill with potato salad and iced tea. All proceeds will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank, so come out and support your awesome watching party home and a worthy charity all at once! Cash or cans of appropriate foods greatly appreciated; let's show everyone the charitable side of DFWAO!

    SECOND GROUP MATCH: vs. Honduras
WHEN: Wednesday, July 8, kick-off at 8:00 PM CDT

MATCH SKINNY: Certain to be our most difficult group stage match, Honduras will no doubt be looking for revenge after our come-from-behind win in World Cup qualifying just a month ago.

    *******************

    THIRD GROUP MATCH: vs. Haiti
WHEN: Saturday, July 11, kick-off at 6:00 PM CDT

FC DALLAS: Trinity Hall also serves as FC Dallas's watching party hosts for their away matches. This night, FC Dallas has an away match at Colorado that kicks off at 8:30 PM CDT, so come by Trinity Hall for a full night of country AND club soccer!

    *****************

Knockout round matches depend on group match results, so we will be sending out a second email when we know the results. But keep Saturday evening July 18 clear as the most likely first knockout match.

GO YANKS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

  2. Not a bad turnout for a non-marquee game and the 4th of July and the FCD game! We had about 25 folks for the party and about another 30 watching from their dining tables around the restaurant. Watching the Yankees on the 4th of July!

For the first time I remember, the pub owner and several employees took themselves off the clock and joined us, beer, smokes, yelling for the team, and everything!

There was a Honduran woman who plans on coming back Wednesday ... "may the best team win" were, I believe, her parting words.

The FCD game was on a monitor nearby so we cheered for Cunny's two goals. I haven't been paying very close attention ... but for all the neg talk about the team, haven't they picked up points in 7 of their last 8 MLS matches? Over 25% of the season? Not so bad, maybe they'll make a USMNT-like run at the end?

So come early and take the front row seats! See y'all Wednesday, 8 PM CDT kickoff!

  3. This Saturday the 11th, we'll have a double-header of soccer action! First, the USA takes on Haiti in the final group stage game for the 2009 Gold Cup. Then, 30 minutes, later, FC Dallas plays at the Colorado Rapids.

Trinity Hall Irish Pub serves as the official watching party location for DFW American Outlaws, FC Dallas, and The Inferno. So come on out and make it a soccer Saturday!
