My take is there was no bad blood. As the announcer said during the championship game on Fox sports world. when Hayes was pulled from the game in the 60th~ minute " How is Richmond going to score now?" Hayes liked Richmond. I think it was an option year and they wanted something for him to build for the distant future. otherwise they would have got nothing. My Guess. cheers
