I might. Our FBs Jedi and Dest are far from perfect, they are adequate for our level NT. I can't imagine Scally to become better than either although he does belong to a roster. But if he is perfect at anything, we have 20 perfect players. Citing wise man Arena "If we had 20 players better than Donovan we would win WC". We didn't, and we don't.

He did not rescue. Not at fault for the red card and separate penalty kick that happened shortly after he came on, but ugly derby loss for them. I'd give Scally the "best of the subs" award, but that's only a modest compliment.

seems Scally's dry spell is over (not just since the Wolfsburg match) and he's showing the ongoing physical 'presence' some were missing

    from TF (https://www.torfabrik.de/):
"In an unusual role as the right man in the back three, the American played his best game of the season so far. He was wide awake from the start and acted robustly and straightforwardly. Scally's timing was right both on high balls and in duels on the ground. The coordination with Honorat when working against the ball was also good. When he had possession of the ball, there was once a misunderstanding with Honorat and two or three unnecessary bad passes, but overall he was very confident in his passing game. The 20-year-old had the most ball contact of all players and also received an assist in the 4-0 win when he sprinted down the right, giving Honorat an additional option. Grade 2.5."

Is that as good information as certain posters’ TOTW?

Glad they thought he did a good job. "2.5" -- what's the top grade?

    1.0 is the best.

    6.0 is the worst.

3.5 is average, so 3 is good, anything above that is quite good. 1 is absolutely world class.

massive, epic 'Torjubel'! a fine chip from Neuhaus resulted in a lucky lucky punch with the last chance in the last minute of overtime (120th)
that is the quarterfinal with only three Bundesliga Clubs left (3rd tier Saarbrücken kicked Frankfurt out after they did the same with Bayern)

back three consisted of Chiarodia (practically a rookie) at left, an unfit Elvedi in the middle and Scally showing his polyvalence at the right
given that the clean sheet looks superfine (note that both teams played pretty lame low risk soccer)

Joe Scally: Introduced Kramer's chance at the start with a deflected cross. Otherwise, in keeping with his position, he mostly stayed at the back as the right central defender of the three-man chain. The 20-year-old's positional play was fine and he seems to be getting better and better at the tasks in the back three. The decision-making in duels still needs improvement as does the opening of the game. Scally seemed a bit too one-dimensional a few times against Wolfsburg. Physically, Scally appeared fit and there was no sign of fatigue even long into the extra time. Grade 3.5. https://www.torfabrik.de/

Scally's trend definitely is right, I think he starts building a 'reputation' (which of course usually doesn't happen straight-line)
of course this has to do with the team making many tiny steps in the right direction (Netz and especially Reitz are also thriving) but also Scally's 'decison-making' from above is slowly improving I would say... the time 'on duty' he's getting right now is invaluable...

(Itakura is still not fit and there anyway is Asian Cup in January, Stevie Lainer is in training but certainly is no option before winter break)

Not often I learn a new word I have no idea even from the context what it means. Polyvalence. Polyvalence is the state of being polyvalent, which means having many parts or qualities.
