Jose Montes de Oca, 19, Makes Pro Debut for Leon The 19-year-old forward from Santa Ana, Calif., got his first taste of professional soccer Friday night, and it just so happened that Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho was on the pitch when it all went down. JOSE "CHILA" MONTES DE OCA, a 19-year-old from Santa Ana, Calif., made his first-team debut Friday for Liga MX defending champions Leon. The forward came on in the 79th minute to help his team hang on to a 2-1 lead over Queretaro and its high-profile import, Ronaldinho. Prior to Friday, Montes de Oca had been playing for Leon's under-20 team, scoring two goals in nine contests. http://americansoccernow.com/articles/jose-montes-de-oca-19-makes-pro-debut-for-leon
Interesting. Looks like he played a bit of junior college soccer... http://www.fchornets.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/releases/201311063oe1fr
@bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent --- Looks like he goes under the more complete "Jose Montes de Oca" so let's update title to: Jose Montes de Oca at Leon
Wearing #292, Montes de Oca started for Leon's U20s in their opener yesterday and scored the game's only goal.
No thread for the kid, but one Diego de la Tejera entered the match in the 73': http://us.soccerway.com/matches/201...de-la-uat/club-leon/2038661/?ICID=HP_MS_79_01 @bungadiri can we add him to the title? Odd, I can't find out much about the guy.
Iirc, the de la Tejera brothers both played in the FC Dallas academy, but we don't have much evidence to suggest that they're US citizens.
The FMF database suggests Diego was born in Leon. Makes it much tougher to get to US citizenship (not impossible, though).
Seems to have been affiliated with Orange County of the UPSL as recently as late last year. http://www.ocfcsoccer.com/news/player-profile-jose-montes-de-oca
