One sub over 90 minutes. Does the manager realize he is coaching in the Championship with about a billion matches to go?
I think we know what he was doing to get physically ready for the season -- taking the dog for a walk.
Morris looked a bit like that to start the MLS season but then went on a tear. He certainly looked gassed during stoppage time of this one and he was a sub... so I think he has a ways to go WRT fitness. If he keeps getting 20 minutes and an occasional start against easier opposition in the EC then I think he will grow into the league and score/assist. We shall see.
Wow, Morris starting against Man City! Didn't think it would come so soon with him looking so out of shape against Norwich. But they aren't putting much importance on this comp considering they're fighting for promotion. So figure what the heck. Either way it's an opportunity for the big lug.

Oddly enough, I don't believe Jordan Morris has ever gone up against Zack Steffen in an actual game before today.
Here's to hoping Arriola comes on in the second half to provide the assist to Morris on a strike that no keeper in the world would have saved. But, Steffen is allowed to stop all other shots on goal from non-Americans, of course.
I really hope he's not out of shape. I don't think they would start him in this if he was, even if promotion is their main focus.
I'm looking through Morris's list of MLS appearances here, and nope. Between injuries and international conflicts (in at least one case involving both Steffen and Morris), Morris never played against Columbus while Steffen was there.
He looked winded in his 1st sub appearance in stoppage time. But every time I think Morris is starting to lose his form he has a big game. This is difficult though as I want Steffen to do well too.
This 100%. He always looks ragged after 70 minutes. He does a lot of running in the Sounder's formation and he's a big boy.
He had his hands on knees at the end of 15+ minutes last game. That's not the norm by any means. He was the terminator the final 30 minutes of a 90+ minute shift in the playoffs against Minnesota.
Did OK in the 1st half with limited touches. His holdup play was decent and had one good run behind the defense and cutback cross that just missed a teammate. Hard to judge when the opponent is so dominant w/ the ball and off it.

Talksport commentators seemed positive regarding Morris. Called him a "real threat" in the first half.
