I agree with you about his ambition to play for Fc Barcelona & that he made a mistake in staying ..
But IMD he is no kid  he's a 24 year old man ..It's about time he acted like one , same goes for Cheech ..

Clicking on this thread....I keep hoping for a post by a mod with a link to his new thread/team.

But ******** it he must really like the life there and he's rich as ********, can't blame him I suppose. At 24 had he been playing regular minutes on any real team he'd have been there and possibly made a difference.

He must be truly complacent or truly in denial. I'm starting to think he ain't that good.

I think he is talented but playing regularly may not be one of his priorities. I hope Barca will release him outright. He would likely end up with Villarreal with Gio and Aquino and could at least compete for a starting position...

I think if he stays he must be scared to try his luck. Gio may have made some mistakes along the way but he's making quite a respectable career. 4 years ago we were talking about Jona being a shoe in the mid, can't believe he's still playing in the peewees.

Going to be funny when no other clubs come calling because of this declaration and Villareal makes no bid whatsoever.

If Barca ending his contract is true then they wont have to.

I don't know if he was really ready to leave for Real Sociedad or if they were just rumors, but I do remember that the consensus on this board was that he made the right choice by staying. Martino asked him to stay and compete for a spot and Thiago was no longer on the team. A lot of us are criticizing him now for staying, but it didn't seem like such a bad choice--At the time.

I hope he is able to get transferred to Villarreal. This seems like an ideal situation for the Dos Santos.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, it wouldn't surprise me. I'm too lazy to go back and look for proof, so I'll take your word. I know I supported it and thought it was a good idea. If the coach tells you to stay and fight for a spot, it would indicate that you have a good chance to get minutes. Why would that be a bad idea? Don't judge by what we know today, but what Jona must have believed at the moment.

No worries. I think most people hear realized that Jona was(is) in love with Barca more than they loved him. Jona didn't see it unfortunately.

They thomas pina and don't forget our boy Espericueta.

10 years ago Villarreal was the "Submarino Argentino" with so many Argentines on that champions league semifinal run they had.

Now they could be the "Submarino Mexicano" with a third Mexican. Would be awesome. :D
