Snip: JON-PAUL Pittman is determined to put an injury-hit two seasons behind him and nail down a regular Grimsby Town spot. The striker penned a one-year deal with the Mariners earlier this week after impressing manager Paul Hurst on trial. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/G...tory-22054722-detail/story.html#ixzz39Spp1mDs

Snip: But five minutes later, after Pittman had replaced Connell, Town finally got off the mark. After the ball had bobbled to the edge of the box following an attack, McLaughlin tried his luck with a volley that deflected up and over a rooted Walker and into the net. Pittman celebrated as if he was trying claiming it, but the goal was credited to the Northern Irishman. Nevertheless, it had been a lively cameo by Pittman following his introduction and after he was flagged offside when he had looked on, the American-born frontman linked-up well with John-Lewis to go one-on-one with Walker. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/V...tory-22761329-detail/story.html#ixzz3AkZDJxgR
Scored in a 3-2 loss to Lincoln City http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29025408 He has 3 goals and 1 assist so far this season. The goal and assist came in a 7-0 win against Alfreton Town in late August.
Part of me tried to be optimistic but the other part knew this would be coming at some point this season. JPP tore his hamstring and was substituted in the 11th minute during yesterday's game against Torquay United. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/T...ker-Jon-Paul/story-22923477-detail/story.html

@bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent Let's get a name change to "Jon-Paul Pittman at Grimsby Town" and move him to the YA Academy.
I'm surprised Pittman has never given MLS a shot - though I'm not sure if he's good enough. If Jemal Johnson can play for the Cosmos, I imagine Pittman is good enough for USL as well, or an MLS team lacking depth in strikers like Montreal, NYCFC or Orlando.
He played in a game for Minnesota United last year when they did a UK tour http://www.mnunitedfc.com/news/deta...e-pro-player-development-academy#.VQCli4HF_Wc His contract with Grimsby is up at the end of the season.
He's clearly just been waiting to play for his hometown Oklahoma City Energy FC. Supported them as a boy. edit: Also this article is about a month old but didn't see it posted. Just talks about his career a bit. http://www.careersinfootball.com/#!Jon-PaulPittman/ccgw/54cf65c90cf26e5660915e9a
Goal and assist yesterday as Grimsby beat Aldershot 3-1. He was subbed off in the 56th minute and the match tracker said it was because of an injury. His assist was an overhead kick that sent his teammate one v one with the goalkeeper. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/TIME-Grimsby-Town-3-Aldershot-1/story-26389338-detail/story.html
Grimsby played Bristol Rovers today in the promotion play-off final. The game ended 1-1 and went to penalties which Bristol Rovers won 5-3. Pittman came on in the 70th minute and missed his penalty in the shootout by blasting it over the crossbar. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32679757 He finished the season with 10 goals and 7 assists in 33 games. He is on a one year contract.
Snip: Following the departure of Lenell John-Lewis to Newport – after turning down Town's contract offer – Jon-Paul Pittman is currently the club's only recognised senior striker. And while Hurst believes that the American-born frontman will be a 'major player' next season, he's determined to bolster his attacking options. http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/H...tory-26620967-detail/story.html#ixzz3cDYLVtLd
