Irrespective of whether he's been the best player in the Premiership this season or not (I think not, but it's all subjective) what is encouraging is that he's finally learnt to play football. He was in acute danger of never being more than a flaky showpony of little value to the teams he played in until relatively recently. For that, Mourinho and the player himself deserve a lot of credit.
