I kinda think you're projecting some stuff onto the Democratic center that ain't there. For example, I'd argue that Biden/Harris are more pro-free trade than Trump. But yeah, this isn't really a policy-based election. Not even close.
NEW: Early concern inside Trumpworld about Election Day turnout activities in PA: A person with direct knowledge of the campaign's operations tells me, “The team in Pennsylvania was not as prepared as it should be in a state that could decide the presidency.”— Peter Alexander (@PeterAlexander) November 3, 2020 Well, that's cryptic.
I was going to say that he sounds like a lot of my Republican friends that never realized they were Democrats...having grown up as the children of Republicans
Yes, if USA - England resulted in me literally questioning if I want to even be in America anymore. I'm 41, a life long sports fan. Nothing in sports has prepared me for this
Oh I agree with this, I think that's the left part of the party. What's super hypocritical of me is that while I'd only very painfully vote for Bernie, I'll sprint to the polls in 2028 to vote for AOC, because while I disagree with a lot of her base positions, who she is as a politician and human being, is everything I want in in our elected members. Honest, open to debate, and always always doing what she believes is best for her people, rather than herself or her party.
Just did our numbers...not counting same day registration, we are at 74% voting. Word form the regulars is we typically run 70% for the day. 6 hours 45 min to go.
NEW: A second person with direct knowledge of the Trump campaign operations says, what’s happening today in Pennsylvania is “not ideal.” https://t.co/RWUqWaXGGW— Peter Alexander (@PeterAlexander) November 3, 2020 Probably means their GOTV operation
Here's your roadmap for battleground state poll closings on Election Night:7:00p: GA, VA7:30p: NC, OH8:00p: FL, ME, NH, PA9:00p: AZ, CO, MI, MN, NE, TX, WI10:00p: IA, NV— Ryan Struyk (@ryanstruyk) November 3, 2020
Actually, this is pretty interesting from Peter Alexander ... “When you bank your entire election on Election Day turnout, you have to ask people if they’re going to stand in line for two hours," this source w direct knowledge of the Trump campaign's operations says, detailing concern about Election Day turnout for Trump in PA. https://t.co/RWUqWaXGGW— Peter Alexander (@PeterAlexander) November 3, 2020
It is an interesting question, outside of places like Florida, why anyone thinks Trump has competent local campaign operations
This all goes back to Olivia Nuzzi's bombshell reporting on the state of the campaign and the Parscale fiasco in mid august. Trump took over the RNC apparatus and squandered/stole lots of the $$ It was 7 p.m. on July 23, and Team Trump had scheduled a training session for campaign volunteers in the area. Before I arrived, I had worried about my exposure to the virus. I imagined a scene that was part local political-party headquarters and part anti-quarantine protest. I imagined a lot of Trump supporters, maskless and seated close together, breathing heavily on a reporter leaning in to record their comments. But the office was quiet. I walked through the arch of books by right-wing personalities (Bill O’Reilly, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh) and past the portraits (George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan) and maps of Pennsylvania voting precincts. I didn’t see anyone there. In a blue room in the back, beneath an American flag with the words MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN printed in block letters inside the white stripes, a woman sat alone at the end of a conference table. She wasn’t participating in the volunteer training. She was the volunteer training. There just weren’t any volunteers. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/donald-trump-reelection-campaign-2020.html
This is something I have been wondering about for weeks We know about huge grass roots efforts like PSA, Beto, Stacey etc etc etc We don't hear anything about similar Trumpian on the ground efforts, apart from his voter reg drive. Otherwise its all about his rallies Maybe his GOTV doesn't exist? In '16 he relied very heavily on the RNC
South Florida is coming strong. Miami-Dade and Broward counties in Florida are both reporting higher-than-expected Election Day turnouts, the Miami Herald reports. Broward County officials were expecting election day turnout of 100k. It is already 88.5K now. Overall turnout of 72.87% and could go higher. More than 72% in Palm Beach county, more than 71% in Orange county (Orlando) and Leon county (Tallahasse) each. And more than 70% in Duval county (Jacksonville). Hillsborough (Tampa) is at 65%, and Pinnellas (St Petersburg) is at 75%.
