Long game. They went with starters away because it's a playoff. Once the group stage starts I think Duran will get the starts. Huge today to get lopsided win away and have them sell Archer. The minutes are his now and hopefully he performs.

He is great in transition. At my Fire he was so good on the break.
Not sure how he would be back to goal as a main Target man but open to observing it soon.

His start for Villa is up on Paramount+. Watching it I was struck by a couple of things:

    - He is faster than I remember. Aside from being big and strong, his burst is terrific. It's how he's scored both his goals this season - against Everton they never thought he'd get to the throw in, and yesterday he split two dudes that should have had him covered.
    - You can tell that Emery has been working him on positioning and where to make those runs. He burst down the channels yesterday and was playing with more purpose than I recall in his minutes last year.

It's why he stayed for this season in stead of loaning.

Unless he and that player had scuffles earlier in that match, this doesn't seem like something to applaud. Very unsportsmanlike. Moreso if you consider the fact that Villa are up SEVEN to NOTHING at that point...

They were going back and forth the whole game and the guy had a laugh about it. (The defender was diving a bunch too!)

    No bad blood.

caught the last minutes of the game. Duran is a hot head..knees Gomez a little bit and confronts him like he wants to fight. he needs to chill before he gets red-carded

I gotta say--I've thought this for a while but I finally started to focus on it today--this kid is a piece of crap.

He made a run that his teammate definitely shouldn't have ignored, so he got understandably annoyed. But he makes the biggest show of this annoyance, yelling at Diaby, throwing his hands up, shaking his head for a whole minute afterward. EVERY single time his team loses possession, he shakes his head in disgust and disapproval.

Then--finally--he hounds Joe Gomez to the touchline in great effort. Decided to throw a knee into him as he gets up that the refs don't notice and stands over him.

For the record--I still want him playing for Colombia because he's talented. But the kid really could use 4$$ whooping. He's an absolute nobody on this team and in world futbol. Can't even recall Cristiano being this much of jerk when he was young...

yeah I agree, he needs to get humbled. I hope Emery caught that and punished him . The kid was being a jackass..he is 19 tho but if he doesnt change his attitude hes not going to go far in this team or career in the future.

Us calling him in every call up at this age probably doesn't help his ego tbh. It's fine to be firey and a shithouse if you know how to control it, but bitching at teammates is a bad look and can kill the vibes of a team pretty quick. Just have to keep in mind these young guys need time to learn alot about being a consistent professional.
