Hard not to love this story about a Yank who may have scooped his new club, Ireland's Dundalk FC, by saying he played for them in his Tinder bio: AN American footballer currently on trial at Dundalk has seemingly given away that he has signed for them through his Tinder bio. Jesus 'Chino' Perez' profile was spotted by an eagle-eyed observer, who noticed his job was listed as 'footballer for Dundalk FC'. https://www.thesun.ie/sport/football/4966385/jesus-perez-dundalk-trialist-signed-club-tinder-bio/ He's a '97 who went to Akron and then UIC, where he starred. https://uicflames.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/jesus-perez/6321 https://gozips.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/jesus-perez/2223 There are lots of links like this -- the one above is just one, so I'm sure there are more, better, details out there.
I've been married long enough that I no longer get these jokes, though I do, in a general sense, recognize them as jokes.
I've probably been married for longer than Dave, but I work with younger people, and I know what Tinder is, what swiping is. My wife would laugh at the idea, of course, as she does whenever anyone attempts to ask me about relationships, dating, etc. I wanted to work swiping into a positional joke - left swipe or right swipe - forward, defender, midriff - but I couldn't pull it together.
At the risk of derailing my own thread I should not that if this is real, it's within the realm of significance. Perez was a second-team all-American and a Hermann watchlist player, and is on the MLS draft list. https://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft/2020/prospects
Jethro Burns once said to an audience: "We've been happily married for 15 years. (Polite applause) Of course, we've been married for 30." (Loud laughter)
Someone needs to tell him not to derail his very own YA thread - some players wait a lifetime for a moment like this.
