Jeffries has told the Dallas Morning News what Hitman and others have been inferring lately: the Burn will play their most of their regular starters Tuesday in hopes of making the Open Cup finals. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/topstories/stories/090302dnspoburnadv.aade9.html I can't say that I agree with the strategy, but he did have a great line re Thursday's game, telling the DMN that "anybody who can walk" will play against the MetroStars.
You've got my vote, and while we're at it how about we play a few of the retired Red & Black too. I've seen Ted Eck in the stands, Brian Haynes is on the sidelines, and El Gordo seems to frequent the Cotton Bowl. If this MetroStars team is as decimated as JMac and others say, a lineup of the walking wounded, fans, and old timers should easily handle NY/NJ.
OMG, that would be a dream come true for me, playing for the Burn. Hey, Eddie Johnson is only a year older than me, I can do it. I can just pretend to be Big Mama and talk ************ to mathis and then they'll fight again like on saturday.
I think he is correct to emphasize the Open Cup game. The trophy is after all only two games away. The only thing Dallas needs to worry about the MLS playoff seeding is avoiding falling in the same bracket as SJ (with their home field mojo). So even if Dallas falls to #4 that is ok, as long as SJ falls to #3. La locura rojinegra
