We need CENTRAL MIDFIELD help... how about someone like Van Bommel as insurance for Gilberto??? And we need CENTRAL DEFENSE help... how about someone like Ledley King? We also need a new KEEPER... how about Van der Sar? And we could use another STRIKER. How about someone like Boijnov? Now we wont get these players, but you see my point.

The one position we dont need any more help is on the wings. We have Pires and Ljungberg, and Arsene seems to think Reyes belongs out there too. Plus Van Persie can play there, and so can Bergie. If we insist on getting another winger though, SWP is my choice.

you are kidding yourself if you actually think arsenal will get one of those players~ oh.. you said it yourself.. lol
i just read that bit of yer post.. so basically, you are saying what im saying.. nobody is available.. again, i'd go for a chivu from roma, but i dont think he is fit, or available.

No! Sell Penant, prize SWP out of Citeh, then who cares if we swap Fred for Becks. We'd have some proven edge and speed on the right and someone who could add some edge to our dead balls!!!

    pennant-- £2M

    SWP ----- £9M?

    Beckham -- £10M + Ljungberg

too skint to afford both, + the england captain's wages are sky high.

I am just curious as to what the value of Gael Clichy is? Also, does he have a future at Arsenal or no? I like him.

I'd like to see Arsenal grab a decent forward with some ability with his head. When teams just pack things back, it gets hard to score on the ground. A good, strong forward in the air could be a nice addition late in a game when Arsenal are controlling everything but can't do much more but lob something into a crowded box. It's really the only weakness I see in the attack.

Another central defender would be nice too. Midfield is tough at the moment, but once everyone gets healtthy again, ther'll be no shortages. A newcommer there would have to be really something to be able to earn a spot with the full contingent ready to go.

Not if we get to the CL semi's? Worse than Big Sol's?

actually, i'm a big fan of arsenal and i just sign up for this. about morientes, i think we need someone who are like reyes, young and have spirit. arsenal must find players that fast to attack and defend. i reecomend we buy pablo aimar at any cost. i think he is a good player and have a creative thought to attack.

i think, gael clichy is a decent player. wenger is using him for rotation with cole. actually, cole can play as left defensive midfielder and gael clichy can play alon side with cole.

Shawn Wright Phillips. a decent central defender and a goalie and we are set - it might take about 20 million but it's an investment we need to make

I was actually kinda thinking Klose would be decent when he was available, but he just switched teams so I can't see anything happening there. If Arsene wanted him, he'd be at Arsenal by now, I'd guess.

Morientes is an interesting idea. He's a bit older, and may be OK with not being on the field all the time at a club like Arsenal. Still, I don't see it being Arsene's style to grab a guy past his prime.

I really don't have anyone specific in mind, I'm just wishing for a type of player. Seems Arsene always uncovers something in the rough more than buying big names, so the odds of my being able to figure out who he'd be interested in are slim to none.

We don't need a forward! We have Henry, Bergkamp, Reyes and Van Persie. It would be too expensive to buy a class striker without letting one of the existing go.

We need a strong holding midfielder, a right mid/winger, central defender cover and a keeper (although Alumnia should get his chance).

While I agree about about the other positions you mentioned..
why dont we need a forward?? it seems our problem is we score 1 goal a game and thus all the draws.. we need to bump that up like at the beginning of the season when teams didnt put all their men behind the ball. A good air threat is so badly needed and a change of tactics with set pieces. we are so ineffective on corners/set pieces it is pathetic!!

True, there is no aerial attack. When most of the goals come from the ground, it allows the defense to concentrate on one aspect of the attack.

    Is Clichy dispensable?

Yeah, but isn't this what RvP is for? I think you said it before; Arsenal just doesn't have the money despite what AW said about the Grove not affecting the transfer budget. If they did, I love your previous suggestion of Chivu.

At the moment, no. He's the only experienced cover for Ashley. Why, is Boca not good enough for you?

Of the forwards, heading is likely to be one of the things expected from RVP, but, we have players who can head the ball but far to often they are missing the target at set pieces. Them being Gilberto (when fit) Paddy and The sol Man. We don't need a heading specialist, we need the players we've got to do better! Toure should also be getting in on the act. There's no shortage of inches at Highbury?
