Half true. Online chatter said they were coming to do damage. The police maybe couldn't have predicted the coordination & viciousness perhaps. That's a failure of the brass to protect the grounds and its force.
Uhhhhhhh. What?? If their intelligence didn't predict what would happen, they need to fire the analysts they have doing intelligence.. Twitter was pretty much awash with people noting that a large number of militia members were going to DC and that they were going for less than peaceful reasons...
Precisely. Anyone could have predicted what was liable to happen that day. The extent of it, the average joe couldn't have really predicted but all the signs that something was about to go down on some level were there, long in advance...
I mean, if they would have treated these guys like they were hippies, they would never have gotten close to the grounds. There was no attempt to subdue by overwhelming force. They ********ing mailed it in, because they are sympathizers.
I’m going to barf if they pivot to #IntelFailure and gloss over the culpability of the #SeditionCaucus #insurrection #sedition #DomesticTerrorism #SeditionHasConsequences #NoUnityWithoutAccountability— 𝕵𝕱𝖊𝖙𝖟 🍻⚽️ 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇦 (@jfetzenrausch) February 23, 2021
Until @DHSgov and the #NCTC transition (authorities) to domestic counterterrorism (concurrent with international terrorism), we will continue to be hamstrung in this area of #homelandsecurity.— 𝕵𝕱𝖊𝖙𝖟 🍻⚽️ 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇺🇦 (@jfetzenrausch) February 23, 2021
Senator CP has a question to the assembled poleez dissemblers gathered here today "How many dead do you estimate there would've been if these were BLM protestors attacking the Capitol? I'll hang up & listen"
Today’s Meidas podcast was very interesting because of Malcom Nance. Here’s a snippet: On the new MeidasTouch Podcast, intelligence expert @MalcolmNance says that MAGA radicals have created a fantasy world that closely resembles that of ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Hmmm, maybe not. Mom brought up a comparison with Graham, in that Graham used to be moderate, but has become a Trumpist to be close to power. It was a good thought as Johnson ran as a fairly standard Tea Party-ist, but is now full wacko. Sure he may be compromised, but I also think some of this might be because he wants to be close to power.
Sykes had the theory that Johnson is basically moving to where he believes the GOP base in Wisconsin is at - and the scary thing is he might be correct
Come on...you have wrote that before and it is simply not true. That is right wing propaganda. You really think this dude could have faked being in intelligence for that long?
What do we mean by intelligence though? He was a chief petty officer in the navy and supposedly a "covert ops guy" which hardly suggests he was working at high levels of US intelligence but rather in operations. That doesn't make him expert in AQ or ISIS I actually worked with a guy who was a delta force colonel who started a very successful "security/intelligence" consulting business - but again this is a guy who was more in the field - like Nance - you can earn the big corporate dollars - but doesn't make him expert in what ISIS is up to for example So not saying he couldn't develop sources more like a journalist but compared to other US intelligence types who actually held high positions in NSA, CIA etc, nothing qualifies him to have any particular strategic insights But like I say, he probably relies on sources.
Dude, you are all about assumptions here.... Good for you you worked with Delta but you simply don't know enough about Nance to get into blanket statements like that.
Taibbi is obsessed by democrats....They are the danger not FOX/GOP/Russia etc... Matt Taibbi: “The so-called media reporters at major organizations like CNN and the New York Times have mostly either been silent or have played cheerleading roles during the most eyebrow-raising recent developments: the decision by Facebook and Twitter to block access to a pre-election New York Post story about Hunter Biden, the stunning exercise in monopoly influence by Amazon and Apple in swallowing up the ‘free speech’ platform Parler, the banning of Socialist Worker Party accounts in England and the U.S., and the shutdown of livestream capability by alternative media outlets (and the removal of celebrated footage shot from the Capitol riot by people like Status Coup videographer Jon Farina), a story that amazingly only got major play at … Fox News.” “All of these stories share the same theme: small, unelected groups of private executives making sweeping decisions about speech, cheered on by Democratic Party politicians. If it proceeds to its logical conclusion, it poses a much more serious problem for society than even Fox News at its worst.”
That might be the case, but I think that will get him squeezed out. There is a lot of anger at the GOP in the state as we saw starting with the Evers victory over Walker and then on to the special elections in 2017, and continued to the Presidential in 2020.
I would agree if Tiabbi on this point IF real reporters at the NYP hadn't given the story a pass after looking at the available information and concluding that this had all the markings of a GOP-fabricated hack job. Had investigative reporters at the Post found something to investigate, then Twitter, Facebook. et al. could be charged with open collusion. Not so, given actual events. At least as I understand them.
He's just a grifter. The idea that journalists turned a blind eye to those stories is nonsense. e.g Pivot podcast spent hours devoted to those topics! Just as one example
Exactly. In fact I listened to one of the journalists assigned to that story who went out there and spent days on it. In the end they could not find anything to corroborate Rudy's claims. The likes of GG perpetuate the idea that it should have been reported on endlessly, despite there being no story
And I think it is a very notable point that it was the NYP, an organization not exactly known for understated headlines or reporting.
