Former IU player and coach, Joe Kelley, lost his battle with cancer October 30 and has passed away. I am deeply saddened at this news; growing up in Bloomington and attending IU Soccer Camp many times, I knew him to be a great coach and role model for me and other young campers. A fixture in the Bloomington soccer scene for many years, he began the IU women's program at the club level, then fought and scraped to bring it to varsity status. I want to extend my sympathy and prayers to the Kelley family and let them know that they're in the hearts and on the minds of the soccer communities of St. Louis and Bloomington. Coach Joe will be badly missed.

As a former player and part of the IU soccer family, I want to extend my most heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Joe's entire family. Way to early for such a good person. He will be missed tremendously.
