Denis Suarez was a terrible transfer too. Kim Källström did more for the club than Suarez and Källström had a broke back.
That was a terrible transfer considering he was sold for only £4 million after a £17 million purchase. Lucas was not good enough for Arsenal.
He had an awesome year prior at Deportivo de la Coruna in La liga 18 goals. He was 27 years an experienced player but never saw the field and was poor when he sparingly played. I saw him at West Ham a couple of years back but he must've been a bust there I suppose he is back in Espana. Deportivo de La Coruña
Sometimes I see us buy players like that and think they would have been better off buying me. At least I would be good for locker room morale and showing bastards how to take penalties.
Yeah, I've been basically assuming Soares is going to be a bust. Because (a) he comes injured, (b) his coach seemed to show zero regret in him leaving, and (c) I didn't hear anything real good about him on my regular podcasts. I have more hope for Mari however. We. Shall. See.
Remember when I said I was concerned that we are now a team that owes favors to the likes of Mendes and Joorabchian?
Dodgy as ******** we didn’t want the wolves manager because of Mendez but here we are with Cedric He isn’t a bad rb tbh just better defensively than going forward. Solid but unspectacular
I've never paid attention to him. But if you're right, I would take that. Call me crazy but I've always thought that fullbacks should know how to defend. If he ends up being fit, actually match fit, and we have Hector for our more bombing RB and Cedric/Ainsley as our more conservative RB's that's fine. We can also balance them with Saka & Kola on the other side who have more proven offensive skill.
Josh Kroenke is an idiot even in comparison to other idiot sons of rich people. He's basically an ATM for con artists.
I have no reason to doubt you, but what are some examples? I don't follow any of their American sports franchises.
He took over Arsenal as chairman in Feb of 2018. Our trajectory in transfers since then is just pay out the nose for people connected through agents. He's also in charge of the Nuggets and Avalanche in Denver, who are both doing fairly well in their leagues. However, neither of them are ever on TV because KSE is in a dispute with cable companies that's lasted 5 months. As far as I can tell none of the Nuggets or Avalanche games have been broadcast on local TV this year. So either he's incompetent or he's a human shield for his greedy father.
Awesome! Now we're really turning into Barcelona....but the Barca nobody wants to be: the Barca boardroom. Raul is the damn devil and we've been saying it for a long time now. Sven was right to bail so quickly.
Gotcha. I will add, however, with regard to the part I bolded, our transfer policy wasn't exactly great before the Kroenkes, save for a few outliers here and there. I was optimistic then when the Sven model was installed --- but Gazidis's departure seemed to crater that.
Also, folks, since there's a new transfer thread up and running, I'm going to close this one. I'll give you guys until 3pm EST to respond to anything in here if you're so inclined. After that --- katy barring the door.
Unless Arsenal plan to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer this is a bigger favor for Southampton than for Soares or his agent. Soares salary is a push, he gets that paid whether or not he goes out on loan And the loan fee at a reported £1m is minor change. I’m not sure how this benefits Soares or his agent at the moment. If Arsenal do sign him once he becomes a free agent (and I hope they don’t), then I’ll start worrying about bungs.
Re Sven, it’s not clear he is the young talent evaluator he was purported to be. His record with Arsenal is mixed. Guendouzi was signed on his watch, but so was Mavropanos and in the meantime BVB continue to sign exciting young players.
Duezy followed Emery. Emery tried to sign him when he was at PSG. Sven had nothing to do with him moving to Arsenal.
