It's getting to be more and more of a joke.

On Arsenal.com, Sol Campbell, deserting yid, in at #15- ahead of David Rocastle.

What a joke of a poll; anybody who thinks Sol Campbell is more of an Arsenal legend than Rocky should f*ck off; that's my opinion.

Oh well, I guess the poll was made a joke a while ago when C*ntley was put ahead of Winterburn, Dixon, and McLintock.

to be real... Sol leaving Spurs on a free and playing great for Arsenal deserves top 10 status... just my opinion of course, but for LULz, he should be top 10

So which of the following do you put him ahead of:

    Adams
    Bergkamp
    Henry
    George
    Rocastle
    Brady
    Wright
    Vieira
    Pires
    McLintock
    Keown
    Winterburn
    Dixon
    Bould

etc... How one can say Campbell belongs in front of any of these players, and also probably quite a few more Arsenal players, baffles me.

I think you are missing my point... he wasnt better for the club... its just a shot at Spurs...

you are taking this greatest players list too serious... get mad at the fans for voting the list this way... altho I think Sol was better than Bould and Keown

    I sincerely disagree.

Fair play; I did misunderstand. Yes, it was good to see Spurs get f*cked off, but the way Campbell ditched his entire team at halftime and deserted his teammates, employers, and supporters was an absolute travesty.

I am mad at the fans for voting this way.

Sol Campbell doesn't get enough credit from Arsenal fans. Guy is a legend in my book.

Sol won 4 major trophies in 5 years at the club. You can't argue with success.

Sol definately deserves to be near the top of the list. Maybe not #15, but definately should be up there...

He was a good player, but legends don't ever walk out on their club, especially in the middle of a match!

I'm disapointed that Rocky wasn't number 1. I wonder who it will be.

Well said, the drama surrounding him is just
    icing on the cake.

Still think McClintock should be higher...don't
hate 'em cuz he played for the Mancs.

I didn't see enough of Keown (became a Gooner Aug '03)
but what I did see I really liked.

If the Top 5 doesn't include:
    Henry
    Wrighty
    and
Adams...I say someone should drug test
    the Arsenal.com staff.

But legends can get locked up for drunk driving in midseason, or refuse to travel for crucial games because they are afraid to fly. But if you just have a mental breakdown, you can't be a legend? I'm just trying to keep my legend rules straight here. ;)

But did those legends ever quit the team or ask for a free transfer out of the club by saying they wouldn't play for another Prem side, then do just that?

Just being a part of a winning side doesn't make a legend otherwise we'll have to add players like Wiltord who was part of the 02 double and unbeaten season.

Good players, yes. Legends, IMO, no.

He's not a legend in my book either. But that's not because of his breakdown, I just don't think he was with the club long enough to truly be a legend.

But i'm not going to bitch because he was named the 15th greatest player in Arsenal history. He was undoubtedly a great player.

Plus, Sol Campbell made an appearance in Snatch. That only helps his legend. :)

He's a legend in my book because he left Tottenham , came to Arsenal on a free and was a dominating force while winning trophies. Also the only Arsenal player to score in a CL Final.

I really don't care that he left on a free, he was old, constantly injured and past his best when he left. But in his prime he was a dominating figure and has given us many reasons to laugh at Spurs fans.

How many trophies have Arsenal won since he has left? We miss his steel in the middle of the defense and haven't been able to replace him yet.

Three pages before someone says that. I voted and he wasn't on my list but that goal alone makes him a legend. That and him doing Dido.

    1. Dennis Bergkamp. Helped to usher in the current Arsenal era of players.
