Anybody have suggestions for a good, English-language, soccer magazine dealing with all things in domestic Italian leagues and the national team? I know about Calcio Italia (from the UK) but was wondering if there were others and people's opinion on them. Looking for a paper magazine subscription, not an online one. Thanks!

    for me in the usa..

calcio italia would be $72 US dollars, 12 issues
soccer italia is $59 US dollars, 6 issues

$6 vs nearly $10! are they bigger or something?

i definately will not be getting another subscription with soccer italia.

very disappointed...it's a beautiful magazine, very well put together.

But i can see lots of that stuff on TV...i wanted to read about the smaller clubs and Reggina...I thought i was getting "the official english guide to serie a" but i found out the hard way it's...the official english guide to Juve, Milan, Inter, Roma and Fiorentina.

the guys even said to me..after an email they'd put more Reggina stuff in future issues because they were Reggina fans too...but that didn't happen at all...Reggina in total had about a paragraph to them in i think 3-4 issues....Not including the page dedicated to each team at the pre-season...

Yeah I get these at the local newsstands. It's easier than subscribing since I can pick which stories I'm interested in.

IMO, Calcio Italia seems better. I got a copy of Soccer Italia once and it's ridden with ads like restaurants, car dealers, shops in Canada (sorry but it's true).

There's more content in CI and it's monthly. If you get issues every 2 months like in SI, some might be not-so-fresh news anymore and you're better reading some in websites...

Also my CI has about 100 pages and SI has 80 pages (pages with thicker material than Calcio Italia).

CI also tries to put articles on different teams like this month I think they have Inter front page with features on Atalanta and Empoli (4-6 pages each) etc. Yeah I've seen Calcio Italia in stands in Barnes & Noble and Borders, both at the same price.

    :)

i like their around the peninsula section
in january they had a picture from reggio calabria of two guys roasting chestnuts, as the club was offering a package deal with tickets to the coppa italia match, a sandwich, and nuts... but still only like 1,000 some people came hah

I saw the same magazine and didn't know if it was worth getting.
I already have subscriptions to FourFourTwo and World Soccer.

-FourFourTwo is very good but mostly about the EPL and English footie.
-World Soccer is too brief and they seem to be very far behind on the news curve.

I have thought about getting magazines from various leagues or clubs, just because they will have more detail than the headlines.

'Calcio Italia' is by far the best English language magazine on Italian football out there. The only problem I have with them is since they changed publishers last year I've been getting my magazines 1 month later than usual.

That stinks. Is the magazine written and produced in Italia?

No. It is a UK based magazine. But for some reason my magazine is being sent from Sweden

On the plus side they always have lots of pictures of the hot wives and girlfriends of Serie A players.

Hmm ... I got my Feb issue last week of January so that's quite fast. But when I first subscribed, there was a glitch at the beginning and I think they had to straighten out my address, which took a while. Their customer service was responsive to emails though. At first it was sent from Sweden, and those were late, but the next month they sent me ones from UK that arrived quite on time (so I got 2 issues once). But now it's all from UK I think.

Ok, I'm in absolute footie heaven! I finally bought
Calcio Italia. What a damn fine magazine!!! I feel like after
reading just 1 issue, I'm going to know 10 times more about
Serie A and Italian futbol than I ever knew.

Thanks again for the outstanding suggestion.

I really like Calcio Italia magazine but for me, the magazine comes way too late. I still haven't received Feburary's edition and it's March 2. I usually get the mag delivered in the middle of the following month. By that time, any of the team information is so outdated it's just not worth it. If I lived in the UK, it'd be a different story but the mag arrives way too late for my liking. I'm sticking with my dozen bookmarked sites from now on. Cheaper and quicker.

I just emailed them about my shipping problems and they assured me that from now on my issues will arrive in a more timely fashion. I'm gonna wait and see.

I'm seriously considering getting a subscription as well.
I already get FourFourTwo and World Soccer.
I'm going to drop World Soccer, much to general.
FourFourTwo, I love; but it is clearly aimed at the EPL and mostly
    British clubs.

Thanks again everyone for the fantastic recommendation. I couldn't
put the Calcio Italia magazine down last night.
