He may get credit for his attacking play, but his positioning and tackling are world class.

Agreed.....he handled Sanchez quite well in the friendly last week, and that's something!

They are and Bayern are in hot pursuit of him. Latest report is that they're offering 22m + Breno. Doubt Liverpool would spend that type of money on a fullback (that's not English) :D

    Misleading title :(
I'm guessing Jova has 2 years left on his contract.

Loan to Germany probably will be the best we can hope for.

F365 in misleading Liverpool headline shocker  That website lives and dies on Liverpool. The number of Liverpool stories that are open for comment (and corresponding, Man U posters) must be a marketing man's dream.

And he (or his significant other) would be clamoring for a move back to sunny Spain before you know it. Carroll is ours for as long as we want him, which I hope is the next decade or so.

Carroll is a beast, has settled in England, and will bleed for the shirt. More than we can definitely say about Llorente.

    And now Poulsen

Maybe the reason why Jova's been bombed completely out of the squad and Cole and Poulsen continue to feature in the squad is that the 2 have indicated that they will move on if they are not part of the 1st team plans.

True but the PL proven thing (sort of) is the only thing Carroll has got going for him ahead of Llorente. The homesickness is just a hypothetical thing anyway. Also a British player is just as likely to leave for foreign pastures if he decides he's better than us like McManaman or Owen. I just feel that quality-wise Llorente definitely edges Carroll out and we could have got him for the amount of money we spent. That said, Carroll is a younger prospect and may turn out to be a relatively thrifty buy in a year or so.

I knew he was slow but I didn't realize Poulsen was that old...

We actually did bid for Llorente before we got Carroll but Bilbao rejected the offer. But Carroll at 4 years younger, similar strengths to Llorente plus already adapted to the Premiership.

Bilbao wanted more than we were prepared to offer, no one knows if the player actually wants to leave Spain(if he keeps up his current form he'll be able to choose from Barca and Real) and may well have been more Morientes then Torres in the Prem.

Just another reason why we're severely underrating him. For his age, he's a steal of a player. Total overachiever. :D

Gossip column crap about Arsenal chasing "10M-rated Baines", which obviously can't be the case, can it? Doubtful they'd sell him to us, but surely he'll go for 15+.

He would be arguably the best LB we could buy this summer, as he's settled in the EPL. Hope we at least make a hefty offer.

That is way too low for an English player staying in England...The only reason he doesn't play is because he plays behind cashley.

Bayern bid for him in January, and I don't know exactly what he said, but our FO said that he rejected the move because he doesn't want to leave Liverpool. That triggered a whole bunch of homesickness stories in the press, which began speculating that homesickness was in fact the reason he pulled out of the WC squad. Of course, that's not likely to be a problem should he move here.

He's also a childhood Liverpool fan, so it's actually more realistic than many would think. We'd have to pay more than any other club would for him though.

He actually is. When he was at Wigan, he made noises about come and get me but we ended up with Dossena. Back then, it didn't look like a loss because we also had Insua and Aurelio. How times change, eh?
