With the blessing of Shurik from the Russian board, it's time to use your "fashion eye" and take a shot at a L1 kit review.

We'll use the same basic rule than the RPL one (https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151229&page=1&pp=15)with adjustment to the French philosophies.

    Here are the rules:
    1) The team receives the minimum of 1 and the maximum of 10 points for the overall look of the uniform.
    2) A maximum of 3 points can be taken off if the team's uniform is straying away from traditional colours or designs. A maximum of 3 points can be added on if the team is straying away from a bad trend of the past years.
    3) Max. of 3 points will be added if this year's kit is an improvement. Max. of 3 points will be subtracted if it's worse than last year's.
    4) At least 1 point will be taken off for each sponsor logo on the kit that are ugly (that's different than the RPL as L1 usually have lots of sponsors).
    5) Other points may be added or subtracted based on miscellaneous accounts, maximum of 1 per.
    6) Cup kits are not accounted for since they are all ugly anyway.

    And most important of all...

Leave your club preferences at the door. Time to be objective.

The more people chip in, the funnier is gonna get.

There's no particular order, so first up...

    Racing Club de Lens

    Away: http://boutique.emotionfoot.com/boutique/images_produits/300505.jpg
    3rd: http://eur.news1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/afpji/20041113/041113223553.q5eydbs30b.jpg

    My basic score is 7

The home kit is great, but the away one suffers from the bad color and sponsor match.

    Adjustments:

+1 for continuing on the nice trend from last year, much easier on the eyes than the ugly kit of the early 2000s. (modelled here by Olivier Dacourt http://sports.sina.com.cn/global/20...378_Dacourt.jpg)

No penalty for the sponsor. Even if Orange doesn't match well with the kit, there's only one so it's all good (Watch for future critics to see why it's all good :) )

    Final score 8

    Ah, magnifique.

However, I do have one major... oh, howyousay... boeuf with Sirs Lenselots.
Now, if you are about to wear a sponsor logo that says "Orange", it may be a good idea to wear something other than yellow, red, white or maroon. Like, oh let's say, just out of the blue (heh-heh)... ORANGE?!!
I know that the "Wine and Gold" is what the Lensisists always wear, but maybe this would be enough of a reason to look for a different sponsor, no?

Overall, though, kudos to the Les Lenses for finally coming up with a decent kit. I still remember those uneven horizonatal stripes *frisson*

    It's actually Blood & Gold

The key is how the sponsor blends in the shirt, not the other way around.

If Lens would have sacrificed its primary color for Orange, my rating would have been a massacre.

    Basic score: 8

The home kit is nice. A perfect "K.I.S.S." principle (aka keep it simple stupid...)

The color are the right ones and the away kit while a bit bland could be much worse.

    Adjustement:

-0.5 for the blue circle of Motorola. The name was enough.
+1 for keeping it to one sponsor.

    Final score 8.5

What a great idea!!! Need to think about Toulouse since their kit is gorgeous....or at least was until last week.

And I agree that if Lens wore orange to match their sponsor, their rating would go in the toilet!

    My personal opinion on Auxerre:

Kappa kits are cool! Although the sponsor does fit well. Overall I think 9.5 is a bit high to give to a kit that is so...well, kinda plain really. Nothing really too extraordinary about it.

I like blue as well, but my basic score for them would be about a 7 maybe...without the +0.5. So I guess 8 would be my final score.

Note: I hate Lyon  but I try my best to be objective

    Basic score: 5

Red, white and blue... Boy, these colors are so easy when it's time to make a nice kit. This isn't the case. I just don't like to big red & blue bar in the middle.

    Adjustement:

-2 for the many many sponsors added. How many can you fit on one shirt? (Don't worry St-Etienne will get blasted just as bad and maybe worse)
+1 for the 3rd kit that is not an horror.

    Final Score 4

P.S. Should I excuse myself to the Lyon fans on these boards? Well, I'd have to find one first :)

    You're right for the sponsor.

It's a basic rule that the sponsor should fit well on the kit. So I remove my bonus for that.

As for the kit being a bit bland, well it goes with the club colors. When we get to Starsbourg, you'll see.

I also juge by the fact that would I buy the shirt if possible. In this case, yeah I would.

    AJ Auxerre Final score 8.5

Not their best effort. The mesh (darker green) doesn't look good on the shirt.

    Adjustment

    +1 for the sponsor improvement
    (http://www.photoasse.com/galerie/album43/asse4)
+1 for the kit sponsor Duarig, a local company
-0.5 for the darker green which is now not perfectly in line with the club colors
-2.5 for the sponsor galore (including the ugly one at the back)

    Final score 5

Guess it's not this year I'll buy it :(

The sponsor is ugly, but the rest is now simple and easy on the eye.

Adjustement (this is gonna get ugly)

    - 1 for the away kit, much worse than last year (http://www.madeinsport.com/photos/REP2_OM_9TEL_4.jpg).
    - 2 for the horror of 3rd kit. What were they thinking? Yellow and dark navy... :(
-0.5 for the sponsor at the back of the shirt (http://imageserverdotnet.havassport...ight=320&rgn=0,0,1,1&proportion=0&format=jpeg)

    Final score 2.5

BLOOD???? No-no-no-no! In France vee no like blood, no? Vee like vine, silly!

I know, I know! I am not suggesting they wear orange. I am suggesting they choose their sponsors more carefully. Or, better yet, forget about sponsors alltogether! Leave them to race-car drivers!

You do realize that putting the word "orange" on a red shirt is simply lying. And lying is so ever bad. Little boys who lie get to go to hell where there is no candy. Or oranges, for that matter.

Montreal don't be giving no 10/10's for "les bogies" now.......

Nantes to win the worst by far......or maybe Istres.

Or perhaps Ajaccio? Yes! I know its going to be a Coriscan team - how I can smell the waft of independence.......:D

I like the little touch of light blue under the collar on the home shirt. Very nice, very pretty. I score this a 9

Away white: Too plain. Needed to keep the light blue under the color for uniformity. 6

Why aren't you just posting the pictures here?

Home -- ugly, and its hard to screw up those colors.
    Away - ugly...see above
    3rd - what a mess
