Nice trolling. Spain ahead of a big tournament or playing one ...can give any teams 6 and more goals.

theres really not much to dissect from these friendlies given the timing and opponent. just take it on the chin and move on. focus should be on the Olympics anyway.

Not surprised by the scoreline at all.

I mean.. how can Korea expect to perform without the help of these guys.

I can't argue against the ghosts of LCYs past. Fact of the matter is that take bias away, and Ji despite being injured has been a far more productive player this year than LCY has been in a long time, Ji at his peak at Augsburg is comparable to anything LCY did back at Bolton, and JDW was good today, not relative to KNT but in absolute terms.

Your fascination with dribblers results ironically ends in teams like Palace and Zaha where LCY could hardly get a whiff of football. In addition, we saw what fancy gets you at the WC where we couldn't hold onto the football, our AFC caliber dribbles get snuffed out, we had no physical presence, and our lack of workrate back left our defense exposed all of which LCY was problem number ONE.

Ji certainly doesn't deserve this flack after today, vs NTH and HEJ and Son and Ki all of whom were awful, and two of whom certainly were lower on totem pole on quality rank than Ji.

I bet a defensive team like us concede less goals. You guys need to work on your defense before next round of WCQs.

I think against some teams, we should learn how to play defensive counter attacking football. That's usually the best approach against superior teams.

Focus has been a key suspect we've had for quite some time now, and if you look at our team phase since 2011, you'll notice how our team even managed to struggle against AFC oppositions that of which we've beaten in the past without much problems. Not only did our former manager Hiddink spot that our players lacked focus from miles away, but so did Renzo Ulivieri also stress our youth players to stay focused at all times in all of the training subjects that he's covered throughout the program during his stay in Korea.

Granted that we have lot's of talented players now, our players lack the discipline and the mindset that our 2002 squad had.

Much easier said than done though when you're in a weak federation. We can't learn to play effective defensive counter attacking football because we're generally the heavy favorites against every single team in the AFC outside Australia, Iran, and Japan.

AFC teams bunker against us, so opportunities are limited.

But this is why Stielike and Ki at the very least needs to do a better job keeping the team's spirit high and poised when they show signs of drooping their shoulders. Our body language on the field after conceding the first goal was pathetic. In fact, it's probably the worst I've seen years in any sports. Even Ki or Son's comment of not being Spain's punching bag leading up to the game was pathetic. But this is another dichotomy of being in a big fish in a weak pond. Unwavering attitude/comments when against AFC minnows but huge inferiority complex when against teams that are better than us.

Lesson learned though. We should line up friendlies against teams like Russia, Finland, etc., after a run of games against AFC minnows. Increments...

I dont understand why we still see NTH, JDW, YSY in our NT. SHM was the most useless and shittiest player on the pitch. And congratz to KSG. He is the main GK for us from now on.

Yeah, I wanted to face teams that were just marginally better than us. We won't really improve by getting destroyed by elite teams.
Hopefully something can come out of the Czech game.

id like to see stielike force some youth into the squad after the olympics is over. even if the players dont appear ready and havent earned their spot through club performance, i just want to see the end of this same rotation of players. only one player under the age of 21 made debut since stielikes takeover. exclude players that played only during the east asian cup and its 6 or 7 new players in total that have been introduced to the national team by stielike. these are staggeringly low numbers. after the olympics, just call up guys like hwang heechan, hwang inbeom, choi kyungrok, lee seulchan, park jisung, obama, shaquille oneal, lee kangin, congolese prince rabi, whatever. i want to see some new players.

someone needs to explain to stielike he cant just wait and watch while kleague groom these young players into national team ready players. almost every major korean player developed through international exposure. kleague isnt enough

How dare you? We all know Son is a club guy not a Nat guy. Cmon

And regarding JDW being a useful player, Tak...how so when you never know which Dong is going to show up? To me, inconsistent players are a notch above useless. Reliability is key when it comes to being actual winners. Doesn't look like we can rely on anybody at this point because nobody on this team has any sack.

Not sure if you're joking because you've been here a long time and probably should know better. We've NEVER shown well against a high pressing team. This has been an ongoing issue for decades. The reason why we don't do well is pretty simple. Lack of individual technical skill. Not when it counts anyways and someone is your grill all the time.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if "Just Press them High" is the bold and huge font line at the top of the page of every intel sheet given to any opposing team worth their salt.

International call ups are a distraction to many of these players who are struggling to hack it at pretty low levels of play already. Just look at HHC set back after injuries playing in tournament.

No, there is no clear #1 for Korea. KSG is unproven... nor has he shown consistency.

His ability to cover multiple position alone is evidence he is useful player to KNT. He isn't flashy but he does his job enough to be included... as winger, mid, or CF as rotation, backup, or even as starter.

edit - Btw, technical lvl of Korean players aren't bad. It isn't world class but they are pretty good by international standards.
