I read on Channel4.com that Livorno would have to stay in Serie A for 21 consecutive years to make as much money as Juventus does in one season. Can you believe that? That really shows you how the big teams differ from the small ones....
Yeah read this before, but this is not surprising. JUVE are a worldwide known club, and have a massive fan base. Livorno have only just reentered Serie A and are far away from such fame. TV revenues will be astronomically greater for JUVE as such, as it is easy to assume a fan in China would want to see JUVE play but hardly likely he'd be interested in Livorno! Then also with the higher profile players this further adds to the increased TV revenue! I read also somewhere in that article a Serie A club's season salaries amount to 5 million Euros (believe it is Livorno also) whereas Christian Vieri alone at Inter earns 4 million Euros a year.
Juventus make 90 Mio Euro per year of pay-TV alone. Milan 78 Mio Euro IIRC. Those absolute lower clubs like Livorno struggle to find TV stations that are willing to pay them fractions of these figures. That is why this season (or was it last season?) the seaon kick-off was delayed as the lower clubs that hadn't a pay-TV deal weren't willing to play until they got the money they demanded.
thats if livorno even makes any money at all...I had a friend from modena who tells me from a business point of view there were happy to relegate as the expenses in serie b are far more manageable in terms of breaking even. back to juve, imagine their earning power with a proper stadium.
but its way more than tickets sales, clubs like chelsea and manu have villages around their stadiums where tons of money is spent on a variety of products...
The new stadium will be built inside Delle Alpi and look like this: Source: http://www.stadiumguide.com/giovanniagnelli.htm Capacity is 40.000 only but they will have 200 (!!!) executive boxes. Unbelievable.....
