There is a deep irony here…in order to avoid nuclear proliferation you have to be willing to risk nuclear war. Every pol has looked at this conflict through a very short term prism: let’s not back Putin into a corner because he might push The Button. But that does a disservice to the future because it guarantees proliferation.

It is a very difficult balancing act and why the endumbification of the Republican Party is a problem.

Nuclear weapons are what sets apart the response of multiple countries to missile and drone barrages by Iran and Russia. The takeaway here is clear: if you want to be taken seriously, you must possess nuclear weapons. Decades of non-proliferation efforts continue to be undermined

I am not fundamentally opposed, but it's not going to do what Musk thinks it will do. We already saw that bad actors will pay for the checkmark. Spammers and trolls will gladly pay this as just the cost of doing business.
