I think the sarcastic part is his mention of "those righteous who don't need to repent".

It seems like these stories in Luke were prompted by some teachers accusing Jesus of "eating with sinners". He responds with stories that clearly make the point that his purpose is to look for the lost. But he also mentions the other 99 sheep that he is leaving in the wild (or in the open), and the other nine coins that were not lost, and the older brother who never left home.

I don't think these others "who are not lost" represent people who are truly righteous, but rather those who think that they are righteous. It seems to be a sarcastic way to refer to those teachers who thought that they were righteous and were criticizing Jesus for eating with sinners.

I'll just pitch in two generic comments.

    1. Jesus's ministry was directed at the people whose access to God (aka the temple, etc) was "restricted" due to Old Testament regulations. The parable of the lost sheep fits in well with this. Jesus very much condemned people who put up barriers for people to "access" God.

    2. Jesus's supposed miracles were symbols of Jesus being more powerful than each of the primary Greek/Roman gods. His supposed miracles directly illustrated his power over the domain of those gods, thereby reinforcing the notion that Jesus as the son of God was more powerful than each of the Greek or Roman gods.

Yes, we all know how Whitelandian Christians are traditionally 'Merica's most persecuted class.

It's technically ok to call Pence a mother f*cker right? I mean, he calls his wife mother and he presumably f*cks her. So doesn't that technically make him a mother f*cker?

That’s quite the presumption. My money would be that he was a mother f*cker long ago, but only reluctantly.

What if the Bible is just what's left of 1st Century Twitter? Does anyone think of that? (At least the New Testament anyway)

How many children does he have? My guess is that the number of times he's had sex with his wife is very very close to the number of children he has, and the last time they had sex is closely related to how old their youngest child is, plus a single-digit number of months.

This is my take so far. For all Licht's talk about grand theories of journalism, he was just really bad at the day to day product and building audience.

He seems to have believed that CNN's "real' problem was not being centrist enough but in many respects that's a theory that hasn't proven anywhere so far. e.g the Trump town hall seems to have actually lost them marketshare because their audience didn't like it.

I'd love to konw what data they had for this idea or whether it was more just a vibe handed down by Zaslav (my suspicion)

Judging by the way that tie is knotted, he deserved it.

Jim Carroll Band rep. Man, that’s an album that, to my ear, has aged really well. I like it a lot more now than when I bought it 40 years ago.
