Too complicated for me. I guess I'm cynical and see that as platitudes.

Owen finishes the season with 0 appearances and minutes but is still listed on roster of Juliper league champions, Club Brugge.

    Hmmn.

If OO wins a champion's medal but nobody there notices, has he won a champion's medal?

The real question is: can they even track him down to give him his medal?

New manager. New clean slate. Maybe the issues stemmed around his relationship with former manager Alfred Scheeuder. Maybe it was an impossible and toxic relationship from the get-go that was unresolvable. Maybe it was for the best of everyone that Owen stepped away for a while. I don’t know. Seems likely. New manager, Carl Hoefkens, has been an assistant at Brugge for several seasons. Clearly he has some sort of idea of what it was all about. The fact he’s giving Owen a chance could mean something. Man…. This kid oozes talent. I hope all his shit has been ironed out. I want to see him blossom.

OO has gone through a couple of managers; I think is him. I also think he came to terms with himself and is now accepting where he should play.

I'd rather wait a little bit longer than him not running off the field in the middle of preseason friendly event before coming to this conclusion.

During last season nothing much was explained about his absence, never any explication, but also no questions from journalists, which is odd.

Amongst fans rumour is that he had some mental issues and he and the club made an arrangement so he could take his time to sort things out. No idea if there is any truth in that.

Hopefully the time off helped him, and he's now ready to prove why we paid a decent amount of money to get him.

A whole year without playing any decent games will not have helped his level though, so as fans we're not really expecting much, but it's up to him now.

I suppose we'll know in a couple of weeks if he'll be part of the team in the coming season. Our reserve team will be playing in the 2nd division this season, so maybe that is an option to slowly bring him up to speed.

His early years weren’t easy. He said his Mom rarely let him out of their Bronx apartment when he was a child for his safety. He didn’t start organized soccer until he was 14. That he has a professional contract at all speaks volumes to his natural abilities. If he can really focus and not worry about his modeling and concierge business, maybe something will happen. Probably could use a change of agent although maybe they are now helping him focus. Good luck!

Annoying as it can be sometimes, athletes are now brands . They have side hustles and side businesses left and right. I would hesitate to say not focus and worry about it. In many respects, its their livelihood away from football in the present and future. Now what he probably needs to do is focus on football when he's at "work" and focus on businesses during his downtime away from football. Don't let the two intersect. Keep them separate. If OO can do that...... man, his potential is sky high.

He can dedicate his own time to breeding dogs and making flower bouquets for all anyone cares.

But not when he's unavailable for his actual job. What would happen if any of us stopped going to work to take a bit of time off to find ourselves and plan for after our retirement?

Zero reason to think this guy has the mentality to be a pro. What happened to his modeling concierge service? He’s a mental case.

Embracing his inner defender is an important step. He supposedly had visions of being a forward.
