Throwback to when Zinedine Zidane tore Spain apart at EURO 2000 🔥 (via @EURO2020)pic.twitter.com/I1qkL5QCbf— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) April 7, 2020 Unreal
One of my favourite Zidane touches, if there’s such a thing, that’s missing from that vid is the first time chop between the legs vs Valencia at the Bernabeu in 02/03, which was followed by a step over to send Albelda (?) guessing and then slipping a perfect through ball to Portillo for the finish.
Zizou was never fast but the man was such a genius with his ball control, dribbling, playmaking, and etc. I always admired that about him and probably why he was my favorite player to watch.
In my lifetime, there have been 3 players where you just looked forward to watching them play regardless of who they played for or when: Zidane, El Fenomeno, and Ronaldinho.
I remember him being very enthusiastic about Rodrygo’s piece of skill ,when he trapped the ball from a cross field pass and scored after just coming into the pitch, he identified the importance of the control of the ball and the movement over the actual goal, his kind of player ( or play at least) considering how he played the game himself Completely agree, if I speak of lifetime though, and looking forward to watching, although always a Madrid fan, I thoroughly enjoyed Serie A when it was “the” or close to “the” league , looked forward to watching a lot of players in that time even though they maybe weren’t on the level of those three, Boksic, Baresi, Savicevic, Gullit, Mancini, Van Basten, Weah, Brolin, Asprilla ( Parma) Maldini, Crespo, Sheva, Rui Costa, Batistuta, Baggio, Nedved ( Lazio time) and on and on, a few different eras there but I enjoyed football the most around those times, would watch much more football than I do now.
Magician. Guardiola’s face as Zizou is running by him. Lol. Is it because I’m getting old or was football more pleasing to watch in those days. Maybe everything is more pleasing when you’re young. Just easy on the eye. You saw wizards on the pitch. Technical ability in the stratosphere but also that touch of panache that we don’t see anymore. Damn I sound old.
I think it's because sports have become more pragmatic. All about efficiency and results, not beauty. I miss the beauty
I agree. I would play and then watch and then if there was time I would play pro evolution and FIFA before that on the PlayStation. Now........Sometimes I think if I wasn’t in love with Real Madrid I would not even watch football.
Ironic thing is that i used to miss a lot of football because of work. Now I'm free as a bird but there are no sports lol
Aouar (Lyon): "It's Zidane who made me fall in love with football." pic.twitter.com/rzwC2g7G7Z— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) April 9, 2020 Zidane is a godsend for this French golden age
Zidane is a Godsend in every capacity. Anyways, I'm waiting for the Cristiano effect... So far we have Mbappe and Rodrygo who literally dreamt of the club because of him.
Antonio Cassano believes that Juventus should not look at Zinedine Zidane for a future coaching role as his style is too similar to that of predecessor Massimiliano Allegri. "He is a great guy, but Zidane is a carbon copy of Allegri, they wanted to play the Juventus way at Juventus," the former Roma, Real Madrid and Italy playmaker argued during an Instagram chat with fellow ex-Azzurri international Christian Vieri. https://www.goal.com/en/news/allegr...uventus-reins-says/1ms1itslaq1pb19bncm0kontk4
Cassano: "Van Nistelrooy was one of the strongest attackers of that time, but at Real he was not playing because Ronaldo was a phenomenon'. Ronaldo was not from this world." pic.twitter.com/swArfys5Xp— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) April 8, 2020 Capello benched R9 and played RVN actually. RVN was our best player in 2006-07 league win. Cassano smoking some strong stuff. 😂— CB (@Corazon1902) April 8, 2020
