Modric also understands what that kid feels. He was in a country at war while he was growing up. He lost his grandfather to occupying forces.
I'm deeply saddened to think that in a few years we won't get to see this absolute gem of a player. What a privilege it is to watch him play. Majestic, elegant, classy, intelligent, industrious, brilliant, evergreen etc. There aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe Luka Modric. The greatest midfielder to ever play for Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane. The only thing missing from his trophy cabinet is a World cup. Yet he brought his relatively small country within the cusp of securing even that. Amazing...simply astonishing.
We have to personnel to manage his minutes to keep him fresher and sharp for the end of season run. No excuses.
Is Luka one of those players who need to play a lot for them to be at their best? Not every player responds to rest and load management the same way. Disclaimer: I’m not suggesting he play’s every game. Just wanna know what others think about Luka specifically and load management. We have to rotate KCM since we have excellent options behind them but in Luka’s specific case I don’t know how realistic that is. We know how much the senior players with big personalities cling to the everyday starter role. And then add to the fact that Carlo isn’t known for routine rotation.
Good point, but clearly we're buying those young midfielders to take over at some point so I hope we mix and match more this season.
Just curious, when the last time we eased a young player in? I get the impression we usually just throw them out there and hope they develop quickly.
I hardly know of any top young prospect eased in. Guys like Müller at Bayern had a season or so to acclimate and then it was off to the races. Alphonso Davies as well. I think truly great talents scale up with the level of competition. There's a certain mental aspect of feeling at home in a situation that you can hardly teach.
We're not a small club. Easing a player in is basically taking it slow for one season then him showing strides of progress by the next one.
I'm almost certain we will, i don't think KCM will be automatic starters game in game out this season, certainly not together as a unit, i think even Toni knows this hence his taking his time over renewal Eder
Best midfielder in history. Checks every box including longevity. When we were expecting him to slowdown, so we were thinking how we would transition.... he pumped those breaks and kept going. I don't even think this is up for discussion. It's more of a topic who is greater between Cristiano and messi than who is the best midfielder in history IMO.
Lots of people said this, amongst some of our own fans this is a pointed topic of discussion every week considering who he plays with
Casemiro, Kroos and Modrić have never lost a final that they've all started in for Real Madrid. 9 finals. 9 wins. The Bermuda Triangle. pic.twitter.com/xVdLx5e156— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) August 12, 2022
Good thing about it is that we have the successors in place already. Hope we get the Striker and RB successors soon.
Except IMO like Benz, Luka is one of a kind i don't think we'll see another Luka soon, a phenomenon on and off the ball, the new guys will write their own great stories i hope
Totally agree.. He was the most influential player (not named CR7) in our recent successes... We wont be able to replace him...period. Lucky that we have next generation ready and they know what a reputation they need to uphold...
No that would be Ramos. But Modric is a a large part of it amongst other players such as Casemiro who we would never have won this many CLs without and Kroos who is also one of the best midfielders in our history
