You should have figured it out easily that I wasn't really asking what football code is if your IQ is over 99 looking at the post I was replying to: He was differentiating 'football' from 'rugby' so I was asking him for that.
Unfortunately, this is how you phrased it: If you would have asked "What's rugby code?" that would have gotten your point across. Instead, you acted like a retard and asked what football code was.
It doesn't make much difference which one I asked since my point was to point out differentiating 'football' from 'rugby' when rugby is also part of football family.
Which brings us back to your piss poor English skills. Based on the +1s I'm getting for my previous comment about your lack of English skills, I'm going to guess that you are literally the only person that thought you were commenting on how rugby is a form of football and not acting like you didn't have a clue what a football code was.
No, he wasn't. What he said was, "It's a football code, but not a rugby code." What this means is "Australian Rules is a football code, and Rugby is a group of related football codes, but the Australian Rules football code is not part of the Rugby football code group." Same as if he'd said, "Chartreuse is a color, but it's not a shade of blue." Can we let this drop now?
What do yo mean by 'Rugby is a group of related football codes'? Just because they share the term 'rugby'? Australian Rules football, Rugby union, Rugby league are all part of 'football family', and they all have its own disticnt football codes. You can drop it now.
You should have realized that the posting I was quoting was not properly put toghether immidiately after I asked the question. Looking at your responses, I must conclude 1. You don't know what 'football' and 'rugby' are, 2. You didn't pay attention to the post I was quoting, or 3. You are dumb.
Do Australian Rules football fans view soccer in a similar way NFL fans view the sport? I mean in the , "this is football, that's not football" sense.
Yes... And Australian soccer fans view AFL fans pretty much the same way American soccer fans view NFL Fans
I know that AFL fans like to make fun of NFL, because of the pads, just curious as to the outlook on soccer. At least, the few I've met have mentioned the pads and basically just made jokes about it. Because I was wondering why they didn't take to soccer. They must have a similar outlook to Americans. Almost every soccer fan I know, that's American, likes NFL, and supports that league though.
Is it the biggest sport? In that I mean, I know there is rugby but are both equally supported or does one win out?
AFL is top dog, followed by National Rugby League. If I had to compare it would probably be pretty similar to NFL vs. NBA. NRL is still popular, but a good distance back from AFL.
It's very regionalized. AFL has 10 clubs in or near Melbourne, and one in Sydney. NRL has 10 clubs in greater Sydney, and one in Melbourne.
What the hell? Just admit you suck at English and move on. Here's what I said: Aussie Rules is a football code, but not a rugby code. There are two rugby codes, Union and League, and Aussie Rules isn't one of them. Therefore, Aussie Rules, along with both Rugby Codes, is a football code. But Aussie Rules is not a rugby code. This isn't hard to understand.
Is it me or has this off-season brought out more dumb pissing matches on the threads than ever? I know I have myself to blame for even reading it, but I'm just stunned that so much time and effort would be wasted between people arguing some point about the difference between "rugby code" and "aussie rules code" and such. I'm not even sure it's relevant to the thread topic at all.
Of course Aussie Rules has Aussie Rules code. It just looks a lot like rugby union or rugby league. Rugby Uninon and Rugby League are also considerd two different sports due to different rules and even different balls. Non-fans probably have hard time distingishing the three at first, but they can immidiately see the difference among association-football, american-fooball, and those three.
Aussie Rules doesn't look anything like either Rugby code. It is much more free flowing, like soccer. The closest football code to Aussie Rules would probably be Gaelic rules (which is why they can do the international rules game between Ireland and Australia). But Aussie Rules really doesn't look a thing like either Rugby.
I agree with you. March 15 can't get here soon enough. (Or February 22, for those CCL-inclined fans.)
there are some leagues-- Germany, Austria, Italy I believe Japan has one-- but they're roughly equivalent to, I don't know, the rugby leagues in the US.
Never been to Australia, but my experience has always been that sports fans who don't like soccer will take any opportunity they can to poke fun at soccer. I've seen that to be the case whether I'm in a country where soccer isn't the #1 sport (USA, Ireland) and also in places where it's by far the #1 sport (South Africa).
