so its just underway, the biggest tournament in cricket as it not only qualifies 5 teams for the WC 07, but also changes the structure of ODI's as the five also are given status to participate in them.

all of this happens in under two weeks time too.

    july 1st

    Denmark v Uganda
    Canada v Namibia
    USA v UAE
    Holland v PNG
    Ireland v Bermuda
    Scotland v Oman

    group one
    USA
    UAE
    Ireland
    Bermuda
    Denmark
    Uganda

    group 2
    Canada
    Holland
    Scotland
    Oman
    PNG
    Namibia

top 2 in each group make playoff and get auto bid to WC, while the rest play off for 5th spot.

Scotland, Canada, Ireland and Bermuda are into the semi's and all into the World Cup. The last two for the first time.

Denmark, Holland, Namibia and UAE to playoff for the final spot, the final four teams get to playoff for 9th to 12th spot.

Anyone know how come there are so few teams this year? It's seemed to be increasing in size every time, yet now there are only 12 teams in it.

Without me having to do too much research, can anyone summarize if USA still has a chance to be in the World Cup?

Nope, by the sounds of it, quite possibly the worst of the sides throughout the group stages. Only one point, and that from a no result due to rain (the only point Ireland dropped).

Bermuda ran up a score of over 300 against the US to clinch their place in the top four, leaving the Americans bottom of the completed group.
