Why does Paddy have to miss the Chavski game? The fastrack system doesn't apply to yellow accumulation? His game to miss could've been yesterday's. When Van Cheatstelrooy had his ban, he missed a carling cup game as the first of his three if I'm not mistaken. Is Arsenal going to fight this or are Cesc and Flamini going to line up against Lampard and Makalele?

Calling our player a cheat, just days after Vieira's shameful dive against the scousers.....

What's funnier though is the continued browsing of your rivals boards. I know Utd, Spurs, and Chelski are our enemies but I'm never ever motivated to look through their forums and try to snipe at other people's posts. It's just...dumb.

There's a major difference. Vieira is just a freaking idiot for doing that. It didn't hurt anyone. If anything he would have gotten sent off, which would've hurt his own team. Van CHEATstelrooy is very smart, and you'll never convince me he wasn't trying to injure Ashley on that play. His reaction said it all. Regardless this is the Arsenal forum, so I can vent and say whatever the hell I please, so please don't turn this thread into another squabble fest. Thank You. :)

You need to get around some then. If you did venture out of your little safe and secure subforum, you'd see there's plenty of banter and cross discussions going on here at BigSoccer. But if all you want is to bury your head in the sands of the Arsenal forum and not be challenged (goodnaturedly of course ;) ), you are welcome to just ignore people like me who pop in occasionally....

you're always welcome here but for some reason, "discussing" the match with characters like acronym in the mancs forum doesn't have anything to do with a challenge, it just isn't that appealing.

I think its because Ruud's actions were considered by the FA whereas Vieira's were not... that's the best I can do for now, sorry...

as for calling Ruud a cheat - I really disagree with that - but like Motter said, you live in a glass house mate, don't throw stones... what's worse is that this is your captain.

agreed, the hurt anyone thing isn't a defense but there is no way that the two dives are equal in their impact.

Ah bollox, we haven't had a good venting in a while.

Ruudy the Horsey is a cheat. Through and through. I think he is also a great player and doesn't need to resort to that. He has got a huge rep for getting penalty's, getting players booked. He goes down like a pile of books when he's been breathed on.
Oh, and Rooney dived guys. If I can admit that Vieira was a joke diving on Sunday and I said it was a disgrace, then you can at least be truthful over Rooney against us. I don't know why Im wound up, the fact we lost yesterday, or the fact I spent over an hour and a half sitting at the computer trying to buy tickets for the game in Feb at Highbury between us. Whatever.

Okay Motter, I can admit when I make an incorrect statement. SLO Gunner, however, has hit it on the head.

I just really don't see eye to eye with you on this... I don't see him as a cheat, especially with regards to the whole diving thing. There are very few players who never ever dive, its the nature of the game. However, there are alot of players who rarely dive, Ruud imo is one of them. Say what you will about the tackle... tit for tat, Cole has slid in two footed on players before, Bergkamp likes to throw elbows blah blah blah, that debate could go on forever, but I have witnessed with my eyes several occasions where Ruud would have been vindicated if he had gone down in the area and won a penalty but stayed on his feet so I have to say that while he may have dived in the past and will probably go down a bit easily sometime in the future he is not a diver. You can call Ronaldo an embellisher, any little contact and he goes sprawling, you could say the same thing for Reyes (although it seems to me like he invents contact sometimes) but for me there is one thing that stands out about Vieira's diving more than anything else...................................................................................................
He is your skipper and he sets the tone for your team. You say United are physical and hardnosed? Why? because of Keane. We never give up and always feel we have a shot? because of Keane.

Not taking anything away from his skill... Vieira is an amazing passer of the ball and has good skills on the ball for someone so big, but I just feel him diving is worse, much worse than anything a 19 year old could do.

how convenient that you forget to mention where and when those two dives occurred. Vieira in his own half...Shrek in the opponents' box to earn a penalty. Yeah, Vieira's was much worse.

I think a lot of the time, with diving a fouling in general, is its reactionary. One team does it, so the other follows suit a bit more blatently. The weight of challenges / ease of fall increases and increases until the referee grows a pair and steps in.

Everyon says Colina is a fair ref etc etc. More than that he set a precident early in his career and generally players do not arse around with him. The refs in this country are a bit of a joke, and the players KNOW exactly how far they can push each one, when playing against certain clubs.

I guess what Im trying to get at is its a bit like and arms race. Once one player / team starts doing it with success to the teams advantage, then everyone else must follow suit to be on a level playing field again.

Bad analogy I know but Im struggling to convey what I mean any other way...

Ruud dives, Pires dives (including last year against Pompey), Rooney dove against Arsenal, and Paddy dove on sunday

    get over it!!!!

I do not think Arsenal and Utd fans will ever see eye to eye on Ruud, so we should just agree to disagree

and is Paddy considered a "diver." I do not think he is.

Paddy has a ban, RvN had a ban, forget how it happened. Back to the original topic of the thread, what is the reasoning for delaying the ban on Paddy? Why couldn't he have been banned from the Carling Cup match or Birmingham this weekend. Seems odd.
