Who is this guy Gamboa? i heard hes being considered for an assistant on the NT! what happened to Antonio Mohammed? and is this Gamboa any good? what gives him an advantage over everyone else and why him?
Gamboa is the Gamboa that played(many years ago) and coached Newell's a while back, he briefly played for the national team. Currently he's coaching Chacarita, which could be somewhat problematic seeing that he's been there for around 1 month and Chacarita is in danger of getting relegated. Gamboa, like Mancuso, has been close to Maradona in the recent years before Gamboa began to coach. Regarding Mohamed it won't happen, to be honest i don't know what's the source of Mohamed's mention in many rumours involving the national team, many years ago it was rumoured that he'd coach the olympic team or the U20, it was never considered actually, probably this time it was the same. A whole different issue is Enrique with which there would be no problem. So removing Lemme, Mancuso-Gamboa-Enrique would be Diego assistants.
Mohamed could join a month before the WC ... he is close to Diego too and is known for his "tactical" approach to his footie. The media has talked about him because it is true that he is being considered. But as Colon is leading the Apertura and an almost sure Libertadores birth, el turco would want to stay at Colon next semester ... But for right before the WC he is still an option. .
It seems Maradona never intended to add Mohamed and from now on they won't add anybody he doesn't want, he doesn't have any trouble with him, but he wasn't consdiering Mohamed.
From what I heard this morning, Adidas and AFA were presenting the NT jersey to be worn in the upcoming friendly against Spain and in the WC.
