Finally!!! And quick summary of National TV games: We have 6 games on NBC Sports, 2 games on NBC, 3 games on ESPN2, and 4 games on ESPN and 6 games on Galavision.
The 2012 schedule is out. With the new unbalanced schedule, Red Bulls fans get to see Houston, Chicago, and Kansas City twice at Red Bull Arena but will see RSL, Vancouver, L.A., and FCD zero times at Red Bull Arena for regular season matchups. That's probably a losing exchange for Red Bulls fans right there. Houston, Chicago, and Kansas City don't qualify as regional rivals in my book. NY has a home regular season match but no away regular season match against each of Colorado, San Jose, Chivas uSA, Seattle, and Portland. Red Bulls fans will have to wait until 2013 to make road trips to see the Red Bulls in action at those teams' stadiums. Overall, I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I'm glad the schedule is out earlier this year. That helps me with my 2012 vacation and recreation planning.
And NY plays twice away at each of DC United, Philadelphia, Montreal, and New England. That means that this season it will be easier for NY fans to attend more away matches. That also means that NY has 2 regular season matches against each of TFC and Columbus and 3 regular season matches against each of the rest of the East.
Bring your campers/club, watch a player have a heat stroke. At least they aren't playing on turf this time.
By the numbers -- 8 Saturdays (last year 10) 4 Sundays (last year 3) 4 Wednesdays (last year 3) 1 Friday (last year 1) No consistency on kickoff times, I assume due to tv schedules. I'm really upset about the Wednesday games kicking off an hour earlier. 8 PM was great. Hell, I'd take 7:30 at this point. Now I risk missing the starts due to work, and I know I won't be the only one. A normally half empty stadium will look like an Open Cup match at kickoff now.
Seems really dumb - this league isn't popular enough to not have the two hyped media teams with the flashy DPs not play at least twice.
I can only assume the 1 PM game is due to ESPN scheduled games on Sunday afternoon and the following Saturday afternoon, so they wanted to give the players extra rest before a 3rd match in 6 days? Having a 1 pm kickoff is only the #2 or #3 dumb thing about this week of games. I'm not looking forward to much energetic play that week.
Maybe MLS want to attract school kids to the game? Chivas USA also have a 1pm local kickoff that day.
That's fine, but then why not have Sunday games in the late afternoon instead of the evening? I'm personally really disappointed about the lack of Saturday evening games during the summer.
I'll take afternoon games on Sundays (1:00 or 2:00) and night games on Saturdays. Saturday nights are more fun and better for our pubs, Sunday afternoons are better for working people and perfect for the little ones.

McCarty, Felipe, Perrinelle re-sign with Red Bulls Looks like at least one veteran CB will return. Perri must have dropped his price. Anyone have knowledge about the potential for his return?
Nope. But we still need to sign an outstanding youngish CB this off season. It's really the only glaring need so I'm hoping they don't drop the ball on this.
