On travel, beer, new televisions, etc.

You'll have to do currency conversions yourself :)

    During?

During the World Cup? I started spending before Christmas - it is why we bought an HDTV. And why the satellite guy was here this week getting us ABC and ESPN2 in High Def. But I won't spend that much during the tournament itself.

I imagine our ticket buyers and travellers spent loads long since as well.

Sorry to be a semantic PITA! ;)

    Re: During?

Sorry - should have said "up to, during and generally as a result of". :)

I really wish I had spent whatever it took to get to Germany. It seemed like a prudent choice at the time - and now it feels like a horrible decision.

I'm impressed how many folks are spending more than 10k.

I'm trying to work out how it's possible, unless they are including paying for kids and family.

I got so caught up in the Bigsoccer hype machine that I though they would have the generic soccer team pictures on all the TV's in the best buy ads!!

I was disappointed when the flier came out, but that didn't stop me from getting a 40" flat screen HD TV.

I expect my beer tab for the next month to exceed that.

    $200 -- HDTV Sat Receiver
$150 -- HDTV Video Capture Card.

$350 -- Components for a Media Center PC
    $75 -- New Brasil Jersey
$0, and a bunch of time -- Open Source OS for Media Center PC (MythTV)

Needing to buy a new Brasil jersey with a 6th star in 31 days... Priceless.

About 10K....$500 on beer and BBQ's another $500 for a gym membership to work off couch potato love handles and $9000 on lost earnings and productivity.

Enjoying France and Switzerland going at it on replay right now, man these two teams really went at each other!
