he was a fantastick cyclist, a sportinguista, one of the best, the reason he never won the tour was because he never had a good team and was always behind Eddy Mercexx

just think for a second he won 5 stages, and all in the mountains or the trial stages, he use to lose time on the team trial stages without any help from his teamates, he did have a couple portuguese cyclist to help him out on a couple seasons
I still remember when he was 8th in the tour of france in 1969, I was in Portugal on vacation the same summer they went to the moon, I spend 3 months before I went in the USA Military
Photo of Joaquim Agostinho in the sporting site http://www.sporting.pt/Clube/Centenario/Centenario_CemAnosCincoMilPalavras.asp João Roque, Leonel Miranda, Joaquim Agostinho e Marco Chagas, entre outros, brilharam no ciclismo, em estradas portuguesas e estrangeiras.
I was young when he died. I was in Portugal. I will never forget that. After the dog crossed his path he fell. He got back on the bike and finished the race. He died after he finished the race.
I remember the accident was in the Volta ao Algarve. He was a great athlete and represented Portugal and Sporting with honor
I knew that he was a cyclist for the Sporting team (back when they had a cycling team) who had died after finishing a race. I had no idea it was because of a dog that had crossed his path
He was a great Sportinguista...like Carlos Lopes and Fernando Mamede... Now we have Rui Silva and Francis Obikwelu... One thing Sporting takes pride in is Track and Field...too bad they don't have Cycling anymore... but they do have a rifle team...and billiards
A rifle team, huh? I wonder if they have ever thought of using the Luz - you know, for target practice? : )
I would love to have Benfica, Porto and Sporting back in cycling, and its not expensive, Maia Milaneza with 1.7 million euros had a couple great seasons take my hat off to Boavista they been in the sport for the last 20 years, but the oldest team is Tavira from Algarve
Well the tripeiros...kind of followed your advise...Co Adriaanse had the players ride bikes to practice...
...he should stick to trying to be like Nuno Gomes...or better yet, the Luis Fabiano (while he was with Porto)!
