Fernando Gomes didnt play in the final.........

Position by position.....The only 2 positions were the 1987 team was better in my opinion was left mid and right mid ......

Names dont mean anything anymore .....If they did, than Real Madrid would win every year.....

Porto were the unnderdogs and used that in their benefit ,the Bayern team was cocky and overconfident.....

Why not? Both teams made it to the final. I realize that it was much easier in 87 to make it to the final but still, making it to the finals is not a fluke......

If Mourinho and all the players had stayed one more year, you know they would either repeat or come close to repeat their sucess but unfourtenatly, FC Porto doesn't have Chelski money.

I'd give the 87 goalie the edge, Mielsskfjdekhreurhedski (can't spell his name) was just unbelievable.

I mnea, the tournament format was easier. Only one top team in each country to worry about and the chances of playing a top team were less then it is today.

Yeah actually it was easier in 1987 ,you want to know why ,Cuase Porto played less games to reach the final, and one of the games they played was vs Rabat AJAX from Malta.

So now that u mention ,yeah it was easier in 1987.....

He did play in the Intercontinental cup....Didnt play in the European cup final tough....

Heres the starting 11 for Porto in the Vienna final...

    Mlynarczyck
    Joao Pinto
    Celso
    Eduardo Luis
    Inacio
    Quim
    Andre
    Antonio Sousa
    Jaime Magalhaes
    Madjer
    Futre

In 1987 Porto only had to play 9 games to reach the final.....Rabat Ajax from Malta ,10-0 on the aggregate.....TJ Vitkovice from 3-1 AGGREGATE,Brondby 2-1 aggregate and Dinamo Kiev 4-2 aggregate......Dinamo Kiev was a monster back than......Winning the Uefa cup in 1986 or 1988 not sure which...

In 2004 Porto had to play 6 games in the group stage alone....Than 2 more vs MU ,2 more vs Lyon ,2 more vs Deportivo and the final ...Totalling 13 games to lift the cup ,vs 9 from the 1987 Final

There was a small documentary by Porto during their time in Kiev. This was after 86 Chernobyl disaster and Soviet Union in hot water and there were no conditions in Kiev to have Porto there. Porto just wanted to get the game over with and get the hell out of there.

No, they had some kids after that game I believe ;)

All the players had to eat some crap food because all the food that Porto brought was all stolen by the locals. Can't blame them, the Soviets just screwed them all over.

Heroes? Who? "Let's give England an early lead" Costinha? Paulo "Here's an easy one for you Greece" Ferreira?

The whole tournament wasn't on the shoulders of Maniche.

I'm a fan of the one that put Portugal in the Knockout Stages in the first place. You should thank "God" for that. ;)
