They had been blowing him for so many years and they wanted him to go. 50 million for such an old player is a no brainer.

Good post. This is Bayern's usual style and the journalists around the club play a big role in it. The Boston Celtics are famous for having the same modus operandi. They always sling mud at people on the way out whether that's a coach or player.

Having said that, Davies hasn't really been lighting it up recently as well. Both things are true. Saying that he's a mediocre player is total nonsense, he is elite but saying he hasn't really played that well recently is also OK. For us it will come down to the transfer price. He is an amazing player at 40M, a great player at 50M but is he all that at 70M? The coach also is a big question mark. If we are getting Xabi i think a weapon like Davies will do quite nicely. Carlo is more flexible.

The season isn't over yet, so we have no idea how Davies will finish it. But if he hasn't renewed by the summer, and given that Bayern like to operate with financial responsibility, then they will have to negotiate with a club like us. 70m would be too much, and if that's the asking price, then Davies can always tell Bayern that he'll play out his last season and leave on a free, after all, he's still only 23 years old.

Based on the number and spread of reports, I'd wager he will sign for us, but not for 60m+.

As much as I want it to be true, Haaland's name is imo being used as a decoy for the club to claim “hey we tried” in case Mbappe isn't signed and Flo decides his dream trio is now: Vini - Endrick - Rodrygo.

I don't think the club can afford a transfer fee of €200m + wages.

At least one put a clause to keep control of his future. Not to mention stated that he planned to move on from his current club at some point.

The other one put out comics to make more money.

So if he asks for a clause to "keep control of his future" with us what do you say we do?

Cause I know if one of our players would ask for an affordable clause the reaction would be vastly different.

What? Real Madrid hasn’t needed those clauses since we’ve always accommodated any player who wants to leave. We’re not a prison, unlike City or PSG.

City hasn't been a prison for any player really.

The existence of this clause is highly questioned right? Some even said if it ever existed it was removed once the pseudo philosopher extended his contract. I hope Man City get a huge point deduction that leads to them at the very least missing out on the CL. That might be the catalyst for some movement and change within their club. But waiting for that is like waiting for the Titanic to arrive in NY harbor.

Waiting for Mbappe proved to be a masterstroke? Even if he does make the move next season he wasn't worth the drama as far as I'm concerned.

If we go on to win another 5 CLs with him scoring in a few finals, would he be worth it then?

If that's how you feel that's how you feel. Lot's of folks don't feel that way.

I will be rejoicing if we sign a top 3 best player in the world.

It hinges on his behavior and what we ultimately achieve in terms of victories, doesn't it?

    That would be amazing.

However, based on his wages, he's gorssly overpaid.

This. Let's not act like Vini/Mbappe/Rodrygo/Bellingham wouldn't be the most feared attack in Europe....

Annoying guy...but can't deny his potency as a forward.

I understand Flo's obsession to certain degree.... the benefit of having him in terms of football outweighs everything else.

Can't lie...I'm very excited at the prospect of signing Davies for LB..... the talent.....the physicality....the age.... not yet in his prime...

    Potentially an amazing signing.

We are building a team of amazing footballers with incredible athletic ability...

    I hope it happens.
