2:30 PM is the kickoff or is that when the TV station covering the match goes into soccer coverage? If so, then 3:00 PM kickoff. Which is contrary to our old tradition of kicking off at home specifically on Saturday nights at 7:30 PM!
Found this on what LAEG has been doing with their new boy Chich, going around L.A. and marketing the heck outta this man! Shocking I know Houston Front Office!!! http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=28757329
Opening day is tomorrow - looks like a great weather day and a sellout. Be warned, these large crowds are not usually days in which the FO and stadium ops shines due to not being able to handle the capacity crowd. Also - Bizama is apparently hurt and the injury list below looks fairly bad in terms of guys missing game 1 Injury Report: OUT: Victor Cabrera (D) - undisclosed injury OUT: Alberth Elis (F) - undisclosed injury OUT: Marcelo Palomino (M) - undlsclosed injury QUESTIONABLE: Darwin Quintero (M) - undisclosed injury QUESTIONABLE: Zarek Valentin (D) - undisclosed injury
Houston Dynamo vs LA Galaxy | Preview February 28, 2020 3:29PM CST THE BASICS: Houston Dynamo vs LA Galaxy Saturday, Feb. 29 – 2:30 p.m. CDT TV: Univision RADIO: Univision Radio 1010 AM MATCH CENTER THE PREVIEW The Houston Dynamo close the regular season on Sunday when they host Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the LA Galaxy for Fan Appreciation Day, presented by BBVA. The Dynamo will also celebrate the career of DaMarcus Beasley who will retire after Sunday’s match. Houston enters Sunday’s match with back-to-back victories at BBVA Stadium and look to finish the regular season with a 10-3-4 record at home, which would be the fifth time in club history that the Dynamo finish with 10 or more victories at home. The Dynamo look to even the series on Sunday after falling to the Galaxy 2-1 in the first meeting of the regular season on April 19. Alberth Elis equalized for Houston in the 53rd minute off a penalty kick, but a set piece goal from Diego Polenta gave the Galaxy three points. The Galaxy return to the postseason for the first time since 2016 and missed the postseason last year after the Dynamo overcame a two-goal deficit in Carson on Decision Day, presented by AT&T, to finish the season with a 3-2 victory. https://www.houstondynamo.com/post/2020/02/28/houston-dynamo-vs-la-galaxy-preview Uummmm.....
Famous Last Tweets from the guy who is in charge of the stadium. I’d probably not put that much pressure on myself given the operating history of the stadium in terms of fan experience That’s right is Opening Day @BBVAStadium ! No matter what sport, no matter what age. You get one Opening Day a season and you make it the best, because it sets the momentum for the year. You don’t let the little things become big. #HoldItDown #opeingday #BeatStadiumFamily pic.twitter.com/YYy7MqxhLr— Juan Rodriguez (@J_Rodriguez) February 29, 2020
Boy, that HustleTown March to the Match thing should go off smoothly considering it was starting at Kings Court As of last night, due to unresolvable differences about how racists are dealt with and tolerated we are no longer basing our group out of King's Court. Stay tuned for updated info on pre-game plans— El Batallon Houston (@BatallonEb) February 29, 2020
Who had Cabrera as already injured at the start of the season? I think that he's going to be like Senderos here. Who's the emergency right-back if they're all injured? Lundkvist with Junqua on the left? Spot seems cursed this season. Samuels, who was the RGVFC starting right-back and was seeing time in preseason and went down with an Achilles tear, then Valentin, then Bizama. Also, if Quintero is out for a long stretch then this is a disaster for the Dynamo. Quintero was there one "big move." I'm looking forward to another season of hearing how we just need more depth after being told that we have more depth than ever. That said, I'm still optmistic for this game. Ramos is new on the scene and this is the first game which means defenses tend to be shaky. That helps our awful defense keep parity for the first 3-4 games.
Rough looking lineup for the Dynamo. Not a lot of pace to try and exploit that questionable Galaxy backline and a pretty poor backline against a good front three.
Sad. These @HoustonDynamo fans have season tickets for the club, but will also be hoping for good performances from @LAGalaxy’s 🇲🇽 contingent #eltrieng #mls pic.twitter.com/6RdVxmcvxD— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) February 29, 2020
Here is one of our owners laughing and pointing at the poor saps who paid good money to watch his dollar store team 1233855225204740101 is not a valid tweet id
Poor start, gave up a nice goal from Pavon (pinpoint distribution from Bingham), but Dynamo have settled down and gotten some good possession. Not a lot of Grade A chances but probably going to be an ugly goal anyway.
A sobering reality is if we swapped #10s with LA, we could be a Western contender. Just not enough playmakers
A decent result. Game went in waves of possession for each time. Manotas a bit lucky on that goal went in between the defenders legs while sliding.
I thought the boys played well, especially with so many of our stars out. Boniek played excellent. Valentin had a hell of a game! I know it's only one but I was highly impressed with him. I'm okay with a tie, with this lineup it was the best we could hope for. Not a bad way to start.
I went to the game. Was nice to see a mostly full stadium of which the vast majority were Dynamo fans. Pretty disappointing the two biggest/highest profile attackers Elis and Quintero are already injured and can’t even play game 1. Memo - Manotas - McNamara is no Quintero-Manotas - Elis
How do you have two people back on that side and not bracket and defang Pavon? They have a bad foot speed problem in the back, particularly wide. Kept cutting back in and the whole line would be retreating instead of someone jockeying. They kept going after Lundkvist. My wife noted a size difference where they were constantly winning headers. (IMO except our CBs). Know we had a list out hurt but if you’re small why not fast?
