Here is the 25-man final squad list announced:

    • Players Paulo Cesar, Tsui Wang Kit, the Leung brothers and Mahama Awal miss out on a place.
    • Uncapped and newly naturalised Brazilians Stefan Pereira and Juninho both make the cut.
    • Although the AFC required that every national team has to register 26 players which meant that there is an open space for one more player who could join as a late addition.
Whilst I do see the level of dedication for Huang, but at the same time, he needs to be realistic with his chances as I feel he may have left it too little too late considering his limited appearances and game time for Kitchee and I just don't feel he is up to the standard to play for the HK team.

Is Leung Nok Hang injured? Surprised he would be dropped, even if he was not performing well for HK, given he has regular CSL/ACL football.

25 men squad announced by HKFA for upcoming Asian Cup finals. AFC permit registration of 26 players so Jorn Andersen is still waiting for someone...

All goalkeepers and midfielders are local. Both Leung Nok-Hang and his brother Leung Kwun-Chung have fallen out of favour. This looks like a top heavy side.

Apparently so as does for Paulo Cesar and Tsui Wang Kit.

There had been quite a speculation on who will be the 26th candidate with some fans possibly pointing out that this could be reserved for Lee Man's Dudu who is still in the process for applying for a HKSAR passport.

Sochick (蘇雞) explained the situation concisely in his latest video.

I agree with his theory that Dudu is the one that Andersen wants as the 26th player.

It is going to be a race against time for the HKFA to get Dudu's application processed before the AFC Asian Cup finals. Does anyone think Dudu will get his passport in time?

In other news, the Hong Kong Premier League Cup took place recently with Lee Man besting BC Rangers by three goals to two. Au Yeung Yiu Chung who recently departed from J3 club Iwate Grulla Morioka was seen as one of the Rangers subs (possibly acting as a guest player.)

On the other hand, Kitchee decided to bring back Chen Ngo Hin on a short term stint from his loan spell at KC Southern for their HKPL Cup clash against Eastern tomorrow.

Eastern also released a list of players who are named for their clash with Kitchee tomorrow:

Whilst there is a load of young players from the Under-18s and Under-16s named, there are also two interesting guest players added on to the roster who are former Kitchee youth players Barak Braunstain and Bosley Yu Yang.

    Lee Man 3:2 BC Rangers

The match turned really violent after Lee Man scored the second goal. BC Rangers players felt Lo Kwan-Yee was fouled but the referee did nothing. 3 Lee Man players were injured and its coach was so angry he refused to talk to the press.

Radcliffe FC's Sean Tse is confirmed to be named the 26th player within Jorn Andersen's squad in which he will link up with the squad in Abu Dhabi.

Just like what happened against Iran during last year's Asian Games football event, Jorn Andersen's Hong Kong did the unthinkable as his side stunned China by two goals to one with Poon Pui Hin scoring both goals.

This is a great start and result for Hong Kong and Jorn Andersen as preparations continue for their upcoming AFC Asian Cup finals. They still have friendly international fixtures against Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia coming up, can the team continue to build the momentum?

Apparently three Chinese players got sent off. Game finished 11 v 8 which explains the result.

HKPLC Play-Offs - BC Rangers Vs Eastern

Au Yeung Yiu Chung who was invited as a guest player scored one of the goals as BC Rangers bested a youthful Eastern by three goals. Eastern also brought in 14 year old Uriel Conteiro who I believe he is the youngest footballer ever to be fielded.

HKPLC Finals - Lee Man Vs Kitchee

In the finals match, four goals were scored with Henri Anier and Gil Martins scored to give Lee Man the early lead before Mikael and Ruslan Mingazov put Kitchee back on level terms. The score remained 2 a piece which went down to a penalty shoot out in which Henir Anier's miss proved crucial as Kitchee won the HKPLC silverware.

In an interview, Kitchee chairman Ken Ng hinted that there will be new foreign signings to be revealed in the coming days in order to not just fill in the voids left by their disappointing Summer foreign signings, but to act as potential replacements for some of their aging players.

Correction: One of the red cards was for an assistant coach. Game finished 11 v 9.

China 1-2 Hong Kong. It sounded like a bad tempered game. I hope no HK player was injured. I am always apprehensive about playing China because win or lose, something bad always happens.

From Twitter, more than one player reported being injured and was subbed off - one of them being Helio.

KC Southern has signed Macau footballer of the year, Brazilian striker Jackson Franklim de Sousa.

Stefan Pereira has become a local player so the club has the quota for a foreigner.

Andersen hinted that his squad will be rotated for tomorrow's fixture against Tajikistan and that Sean Tse will likely feature.

In addition, tomorrow's match will also be played behind closed doors as it seems.

Local news outlet InMedia seems to have reporters on the ground to cover the Asia Cup, and one of the most interesting things I've noticed is how the HKNT players really are enjoying the Qatari hospitality. From the dedicated HK bus (entire outside was wrapped in HONG KONG), to the warm hotel welcome (they even used local HK songs as an entrance song), to the 5 star Wyndham amenities, to the staff ensuring that the food is what HK players are used to, to top notch training fields, I am really happy for the team that they are getting this real professional treatment.

I really hope that this will help them outperform their usual standard.
