So can any anyone tell me what the latest word down in Honduras is regarding your Gold Cup Squad? Will it be like your FA president said a squad based of Domestic League Players or will your new coach get his wish and be bringing in your European players?

"Meantime, Honduras has requested Andy Najar for a May 29 friendly against El Salvador in Houston, a Gold Cup tuneup.

I was under the impression that the Gold Cup falls under the FIFA guideline allowing national teams to call up players 14 days ahead of a major tournament. However, from what I’ve been able to gather, United is trying to retain him for the May 29 match at Portland and June 3 against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Home Depot Center, the same location as Honduras’ Gold Cup opener three days later against Guatemala. This could get interesting."

I suspect this would not have been the case if he chose to play for the USA...speculation of course. DC United did not release him for U-20 qualifying, despite allowing some USA players to play for USA U-20 qualifying....now this. He probably would be a bench player for Gold Cup, but still important for Suarez to get a good luck at him in training and friendlies.

We seem slightly weak on the right side of defense, apart from Sabillion we don't have any real quality there. Luis Ramos is a capable defender, he should be in the squad in order to fill in at right back.

Luis Ramos would be playing out of position.

    Boniek Garcia plays right back.

so so far players that I know that have been invited to Copa Oro for sure are:

Osman "El Tierno" Chavez (Wisla Krakow, Poland)
Roger Espinoza (Sporting Kansas City, USA)
    Andy Najar (DC United, USA)
    Carlo Costly (CF Atlas, Mexico)
Victor "El Muma" Bernardez (RSC Anderlecht, Belgium)

hmmm wonder what other legionarios will be called-up. If I had to guess, it would have to be:

Ramon "El Principito" Nunez (Leeds United, England)
    Emilio Izaguirre (Glasgow Celtic, Scotland)
Hendry "El Doctor" Thomas (Wigan Athletic, England)
    Maynor Figueroa (Wigan Athletic, England)

anything side from that would be a surprise to me.

David Suazo may not be the only high-profile player off the list. Wilson Palacios may also be discarded due to his recent injury with Tottenham.

Im lovin this. Now Emilio Izaguirre is ruled out for the tourney. They say his off-season rest is necessary since he'll be in Australia on tour with Celtic this July.

lmao.. it gets better. Andy Najar will not participate with Honduras in Copa Oro. He's chosen to stick with DC United instead of joining the national team. lol This kid i swear.

Where did you read the news on Emilio Izaguirre catracho azul?

I like the list, it is the best we have available at the moment.

Najar does not seem to know what he wants to do, he is always flip flopping and being indecisive with his decisions. The honduran fed needs to give him some time, because he is too young, and you can assume he is not making his own decisions.

some absences, El Mosky, Luis Ramos, Georgie Welcome, Jorge Claros, and Mario Martinez, Marvin Chavez.

kinda surprised he left some of them out. Javier Portillo the surprise of the list obviously.. but duly deserved

I am a bit surprised Wilson will be healthy enough to participate this summer. Seems they should let him recover, but I don't know the details of the recovery process.

Based on the squad list, I am wondering where the goals will come from...likely from the midfield.

Wilson better perform if he wants to get noticed and have another team take a crack at him in the EPL.

What do you guys think of a 4-3-3 with Nunez, Costly, and RoRo upfront? With Thomas, Wilson, and our best passer in the midfield. Telling Wilson/ Thomas to stay back and protect our back four and have Izaguirre/Sabillon bombing forward once in a while.

Apparently a very different story coming out of DC on this:
"“They can have Andy if they want him – it’s a FIFA rule – but we requested him” for the May 29 game, United General Manager Dave Kasper said. “We didn’t feel our request was out of line. We said, ‘Look, our season is going on right now, we have some big games coming up, can he meet you in L.A.?’ We sent two letters in writing [emails], we had two phone conversations -- there was never a response.”"
