We tried this once...but we're getting a lot deeper into the streak now and we've developed a couple of them on press level: 1) I keep both teams' stats sheets at hand -- but during the Dallas match I covered up the Burn stats with the Casbah chants, figuring if I covered them up maybe I wouldn't have to use them. Joe obliged with a clean sheet. Wednesday night as I was organizing my match info, my assistant reminded me to cover the Chicago stats with the Casbah chants. Joe once again obliged with a clean sheet. This will now be the routine until further notice. 2) SVS&E VP Malcolm Bordelon has paid us a visit in the PA booth for the last 3 home fixtures...and each time he's produced a goal. We're thinking of having him permanently installed. What's yours?
Hail, Sparta!! Don't know if it can be considered as a true contributor to the win streak but I have been bringing large yellow and red cards to every match but the home opener. They can be viewed in section 126 right on the rail. Hopefully, they are very visible to the folks around the stadium, though I imagine their eyes are fixed on the action, not the crowd. All the others still hold true--wear the championship ring, jersey and MLS Cup cap to every home game, the r/y cards, the MLS Champs scarf, rally towel tucked in the belt, drink at least a beer a half. I have nothing that can compare to Beerking's lucky shorts, though!
They still haven't lost when I wear my Mulrooney jersey, although it was dirty and so I wore my Ian Russell jersey to the Burn match and they womped them. Maybe I should keep wearing the Ian Russell jersey instead.
When I don't attend a home game, the Earthquakes win and attendance is good.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I'm beginning to think it's my relica ring. I've worn different jersies to the games. So it can't be the jersey I wear. Until last time this was asked, I hadn't even thought about any "lucky charms" for this season. Last season it was my Quakes hat with my Club Quake pin. But that was disappeared at the Cup last year. This season, I wore my replica ring just to taunt the opposing team. It's real fun with Carrieri or the whole Galaxy team. And I didn't even think about it as being lucky until the last time this was asked. Now I panic if I can't find it.
My Earthquakes wristwatch! I wear my very rare San Jose Earthquakes wristwatch! That must be it because on the L.A. road trip it had a dead battery so I wore another watch and we lost!
There were those of you who mocked and made sport of my lucky blue boxers and West Ham away jersey but.....BEHOLD, THE MAGIC CONTINUES! When I wear these items of clothing the Quakes have not lost at home so I shall continue to do so and bring terror to the opposing teams! :
I kill two chickens in my back yard, drain their blood, drink it in a mixture of gall, rain water, and warm kid's milk while chanting over an inverted hexagram, "ummagumma ummagumma sok tu....ARK!" Then I go to the tailgate and drink one or two of beerking's beers. Works every time.
Well, I've missed one home game since the loss to Dallas in last seasons home opener.....it was the loss to chicago last august....i was in Vegas. So....I've been to 25 of the last 26 home games(includes Pachuca and Olimpia) and the Quakes record in the game i missed is 0-1-0 vs Fire. Their record in the 25 i've attended....you might wanna sit down for this.....22-0-3! I am officially the good luck charm.....I am afraid to miss a game for fear that they will lose without me there. Bow down before me(Vero first) and worship the chosen one!
I was going to respond to this, but then changed my mind, then changed it again and said "What the hell." ROTFLMFAO!!
Since we moved to SJ from San Diego ... and bought season tickets two seasons ago (2001),(renewed of course this year, 2002!), the earthquakes have been superb. You be the judge! Personally I think that it's the fact that I convinced my wife to attend (she's a native Chicagoan, and hasn't been a soccer fan) and actually enjoy the games, and cheer for the Quakes! Go Quakes! When we lived in Chicago, we had season tickets the year the Fire won it all! You be the judge! And, when we moved here from SD, the San Diego Flash francise folded before the start of the next season. ( BTW, I used to watch Joe Cannon toil in the nets for the Flash a few years back now. ) You be the judge!
